Hamill
Welcome, Mrs. Hamill!  I'm very pleased to announce that Mrs. Kate Hamill has agreed to serve as our interim principal at St. Michael's Catholic School.  She will join us on Monday, November 13.  Mrs. Hamill has been involved in Catholic schools her whole life, and she began teaching in 2000.  She has worked in administration the past several years, most recently as principal of Guardian Angels in Chaska.  She comes very highly recommended, and I hope you enjoy meeting her as much as I did.  Here's a little note from Mrs. Hamill introducing herself:

Dear St. Mike's Families,

Hello, my name is Mrs. Kate Hamill.  It is with great joy and excitement that I introduce myself to your wonderful school community!  I have had the privilege of working in Catholic education for the more than 17 years. Recently, I served as the Principal at Guardian Angels School in Chaska, MN.

I received a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Wisconsin-Stout, a Master's Degree in Elementary Education from the College of St. Catherine and I am currently completing a postgraduate program in Administration at St. Mary's University, Twin Cities Campus.

My husband, Tim and I have three kids; Eddie, 7th grade, Jack, 5th grade and Clare in 2nd grade.  We live in Deephaven (next to Minnetonka). I LOVE learning, reading, running, and spending time outdoors with my family.

I look forward to meeting you very soon!

Blessings to you and your family,

Mrs. Hamill

I'm grateful to Mrs. Hamill for rearranging her schedule to join us as soon as she could.  Again, she will serve as our interim principal, likely for the rest of the school year.  We will soon begin the search process for the right person to fill the position on a permanent basis.

Please Join Us For Our Open House, Sunday, November 12!!  Next Sunday we'll have a special time following 10:30 a.m. Mass (11:30 - 1:00) to celebrate the great things that are happening at St. Michael Catholic School.  It will be a time for fun and to learn more about what St. Mike's has to offer children of all ages.  I hope you'll invite some of your friends to join us.  The Teddy Bear Band will provide entertainment, and a light lunch will be provided.

Join us in Honoring Our Veterans:  A beautiful tradition at St. Michael Catholic School is that we take time to pause and remember and honor our veterans on Veterans Day.  Please join us for special event on November 9 at 8:00 a.m.  Prior Lake Mayor Kirt Bridges will be joining.  All are welcome, and please invite any veterans you know to join us.

Teachers and staff want to thank all parents, caregivers, and families for the outpouring of love, support, encouragement, prayers, letters, e-mails, cards, doughnuts and other treats last week as Father Tom oversees our school. Staff is also most grateful for the wonderful dinner offerings for both nights of conferences last week, as well as an unexpected breakfast celebration including coffee, bagels, and sweet treats on Friday morning. 4th Grade Robotics

RobotMrs. Morgan paid a visit to the 4th grade classrooms this week to show two short video clips showcasing the current FLL Lego League challenge for the 2017-18 school year, as 4th grade is looking for more team members.

She explained the many roles students can play if they decide to become a part of robotics. Students learned about numerous robotics missions, how important water is to humans and the environment, and ended their session by asking questions about robotics meetings and what they typically entail.

Students who are interested in math, science, coding, programming, driving, drawing diagrams, writing summaries of meetings, designing, building, and Lego construction can all contribute significantly to a robotics team.
