With the launch of Coronado's refreshed website in May came a new electronic notification system. If you had previously signed up to receive notifications of items such as the City Manager's Weekly Update, news articles, event reminders, or public meeting agendas and minutes, your subscriptions will not carry over to the new site.

Ocean Boulevard Street Improvement Project Update


The majority of concrete and asphalt work has been completed on the project to improve access and pedestrian mobility along Ocean Boulevard. A few minor improvements remain and will be completed in the coming days. The roadway and sidewalks are open but may close temporarily. 


June 7 Primary Election Voting Information



Voters can now take advantage of early voting at 39 vote centers, including one at the Coronado Community Center. 




Library's Summer Festival Jazz Concert Series Opens June 3


A major series of jazz concerts including Grammy, San Diego Music Festival and international award winners kicks off at the Library on Friday, June 3. Sponsored by the Hotel del Coronado and the Friends of the Library, concerts will be held every other Friday in the Winn Room through August 26. 
Fourth of July Celebration Planning Underway
Summer Concert Series at Spreckels Park is Back
Planning for the City’s largest holiday celebration – the Fourth of July – is underway. The major events for Monday, July 4, include the popular parade down Orange Avenue, Navy parachute demonstration, concerts and fireworks. There are other events spread across three days.





Coronado Promenade Concerts produces and manages the annual Spreckels Park summer concert series. The 2022 series features 15 concerts, starting Sunday, June 5. Keep in mind the following:
  • No smoking
  • No dogs
  • No staking out spaces prior to 3 p.m.
  • No BBQs
  • Use loading zones for dropping off people and picnic supplies

Avanti Flute Choir Spring Concert 2022
Ukrainian Pysanka Egg Decorating Class June 7
In its first concert since January 2020, the Avanti Flute Choir will perform works by McMichael, Enya, Bernstein, Yiruma, Menken, and Gluck, in the Winn Room on Saturday, June 4, at 3:30 p.m.
Learn the Ukrainian art of Pysanka Egg Decorating in a hands-on class in the Winn Room at the Library on Tuesday, June 7, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Participants will create one Pysanka egg decorated with traditional folk designs.

Parking Impacts Expected at Tidelands Park Special Event
Summer Music Camps Offer Youth Instruction, Inspiration

The Port of San Diego has issued a permit for a corporate picnic event at Tidelands Park on Saturday, June 4, which will impact parking from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. as 35 parking spots will be assigned for different event services.
Coronado Recreation and Golf Service’s Music Camps are offering youth summer music camps. The first “Music Camp” is for ages 5 to 7, June 20-24, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Community Center. Next up is “Music, Melodies and Making Memories” camp June 27-July 1 for ages 6 to 9 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. For one week, both camps will challenge your child’s intellect, social-emotional learning, motor skills, language development and overall literacy. Spreckels Center Specialty Classes in June
The John D. Spreckels Center is offering several specialty classes for adults of all ages this month. Materials are included in the cost for all three of these classes. For more information call (619) 522-7343.

Saturday Succulent Design: Diana Drummy, master gardener and Coronado Floral Association president, is teaching a one-time succulent class. Attendees will learn about these hardy, drought resistant plants and will take home a beautifully designed succulent frame. Cost is $25 for residents; $30 for nonresidents. 
Saturday Watercolor Pencil Workshop: Learn to paint with watercolor pencils. Ed Roeder will guide you in sketching and painting a beautiful rose card. Cost is $80 for residents; $90 for nonresidents. For more details and to register online, visit https://bit.ly/3syoiFD.
Evening Independence Day Banner Craft: Join our expert crafter, Sherry Richter, to create your own Fourth of July banner. All materials included in the cost. Tinkerbell, an 8-year-old domestic shorthair cat, is this week’s Pet of the Week. Tinkerbell is calm, affectionate and deserves a loving and quiet home. She was relinquished when her family adopted a dog who did not get along with her. She’s all dressed up in her Tuxedo and ready for a new home. Her adoption fee is $50.
