Did you know that June is Pride Month? It’s a time for celebration, remembrance and activism that highlights the contributions and struggles of LGBTQ+ individuals. This global celebration began with Gay Pride Week in June 1970, which marked the first anniversary of the violent police raid at New York's Stonewall Inn.

The 2026 RS Summer Program is in full swing! You can preview all upcoming Summer Program events on the 2026 Summer Programs page on the RS website. Registration for each event will open two weeks prior to each event.


  • Enjoy a tour of the California Automobile Museum on Wednesday, June 17. The museum features hundreds of classic cars to view. Our tours will be led by a knowledgeable docent and will last approximately 60-90 minutes. Note: there is a member fee of $10 for this event. Each tour will have 20 members. There will be 3 tours, separated by 2 hours each. When signing up, please specify the time of the tour you want. Register on Eventbrite, starting Wednesday, June 3 at 10 am.   • Register now for the CSUS Aquatic Center Tour, happening on Friday, June 12. Enjoy learning about the Center and all its programs. The event is open to 50 registrants. After the tour, RS members are welcome to rent equipment and show off their sailing, kayaking, canoeing and paddleboarding skills! Room for picnics too! The Protecting Democracy SIG (Special Interest Group), led by Ken Cross, will hold a special one-day only State of Exception Gaming Salon on Saturday, June 20, from 11:30 am to 3:00 pm, in the Terrace Suite & Balcony, The Well, CSUS Campus. This event is free, but you must register by Monday, June 15. See this flyer for details and registration information. Join a RS Summer Spanish class! Sandy Britton is offering an “extracurricular” summer Spanish class, using the telenovela “Destinos: An Introduction to Spanish”—a fun and engaging way to improve your Spanish skills. The schedule may vary, but most sessions will be held on-campus on Fridays at 10 AM, starting on June 12, with possible supplemental Zoom sessions during the week. Zoom classes may continue into the Fall semester if there is sufficient interest. Free Fitness Testing at Sac State! RS members are invited to participate in the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Department's free summer Fitness Testing and Assessment Program. Go here for details, including what you’ll receive, the program’s date and time, and how to sign up.


On Campus Summer Parking and Driving Tips: 

  • If you already hold the annual RS Member parking permit, it is good through June 30, 2026 for Friday/Saturday events. Otherwise, purchasing daily parking permits is your best option. Visit the UTAPS website to get more information about campus parking.
  • State University Drive between Residence Way and the Riverfront Center/Faculty Staff Lot 2 area will be fully closed through Monday, July 6. Detour signage will be posted to direct vehicle and pedestrian traffic. A temporary ADA-accessible ramp will be installed to support travel across State Unity Drive near Residence Way. Check out this map for details.

Stan Padilla, the renowned Sacramento artist who has graced RS with multiple Forum and Big History presentations, lost his Colfax art studio during the recent windstorms, when a 2,000 pound 100 foot-tall oak tree fell on the studio, crushing it. This Sacramento Bee story explains the situation. If you would like to help Stan restore his creative home, his supporters have started a GoFundMe account.
