As Elevate Weekend comes to a close, our final worship session will take place during the 9am Common Foundation Service. This service will look a little different than usual, with our High School Praise Band leading worship and our youth serving throughout the morning.

We hope you’ll join us and experience a glimpse of the energy, faith, and community our students have shared all weekend long.

Weekend, February 6-8

Elevate Weekend is this weekend, and it’s one of the biggest and most meaningful retreat experiences for our youth. We invite the whole congregation to be in prayer for our students and the incredible team of leaders who will guide them through a weekend filled with worship, missions, games, and deep fellowship. As they step away from their daily routines and lean into community, may they encounter God in new ways and continue to grow in the Lord.

If you know of any youth or adults that would like to be a part of this experience, please contact Rev. Jono Moehlig, jono@smyrnafumc.org.

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the season of Lent, a sacred time in the Christian year when we intentionally slow down, reflect, and prepare our hearts for Easter. The day is rooted in the ancient practice of acknowledging our humanity, our limits, our need for grace, and our dependence on God. When the sign of the cross is placed on our foreheads with ashes, we hear the words, “Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return.” It’s a humbling reminder that our lives are fragile yet deeply held in God’s hands.

But Ash Wednesday is not only about repentance; it’s also about hope. The ashes are shaped into a cross, pointing us toward the promise of resurrection. As we enter Lent, we’re invited to examine our hearts, let go of what weighs us down, and make space for God to work in us. It’s a season of renewal, forty days to walk more closely with Christ, to practice spiritual disciplines, and to rediscover the depth of God’s love.
