When we make our stewardship commitments, we’re not simply filling out a card or supporting a budget. We’re choosing to participate in the movement of God’s love, allowing it to draw us into acts of compassion, discipleship, and community. Our giving becomes a tangible expression of the very truth this series proclaims: that God’s love has weight, purpose, and the power to transform lives, including our own.
With the Gravity of Love, we’re reminded that God’s love is not a distant idea, it’s a force that pulls us toward one another, toward generosity, and toward deeper commitment. Stewardship Sunday invites us to respond to that pull. Just as gravity anchors and shapes the world around us, God’s love anchors our lives and shapes how we give, serve, and invest in the ministry of the church.
This Sunday is Stewardship Sunday. Commitment cards for the 2026 stewardship year are available in the Narthex and Welcome Center. If you prefer to make your pledge digitally, you may fill out your commitment online by clicking the button below.

The Impact Report reflects the incredible year we experienced in 2025 at Smyrna First. Inside, you’ll find a brief history of our church (thanks to our historian, Linda Porter), a financial snapshot of our ministries, and a celebration of the ways God has blessed our congregation. Click here to see report.
There are hard copies of the report in the Narthex and Welcome Center.
| | What if the most powerful thing you do this week is simply extend an invitation? Invite a friend, neighbor, co-worker, or family member to join you and sit together as we grow in faith and community. Sunday School isn’t just a class. It’s where friendships form, questions are welcomed, and faith deepens. Sometimes the simplest act of love is saving a seat and saying, “Come with me.” | | |

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the season of Lent, a sacred time in the Christian year when we intentionally slow down, reflect, and prepare our hearts for Easter. The day is rooted in the ancient practice of acknowledging our humanity, our limits, our need for grace, and our dependence on God. When the sign of the cross is placed on our foreheads with ashes, we hear the words, “Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return.” It’s a humbling reminder that our lives are fragile yet deeply held in God’s hands.
But Ash Wednesday is not only about repentance; it’s also about hope. The ashes are shaped into a cross, pointing us toward the promise of resurrection. As we enter Lent, we’re invited to examine our hearts, let go of what weighs us down, and make space for God to work in us. It’s a season of renewal, forty days to walk more closely with Christ, to practice spiritual disciplines, and to rediscover the depth of God’s love.
