Dear Friends and Family of John Wesley,
In the wake of Hurricane Melissa, our siblings in the Caribbean are facing profound loss and disruption. As Christians, God calls us to respond to the needs of others with mercy, generosity, and love. According to current statistic provided by UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief), the scale of this disaster is vast:
- Jamaica has suffered 5 deaths, 12 injuries, with 25,000 people sheltered and 2.3 million affected.
- The Dominican Republic mourns 2 deaths, and has 4,135 people displaced and 1.7 million lives impacted.
- Haiti faces heartbreaking loss with 23 deaths, 13 missing, 17 injured, 14,000 sheltered, and 2.3 million affected.
- Cuba reports 17 injured, with a staggering 735,000 people sheltered and 3 million affected.
In times like these, the body of Christ is called to be a source of hope. We want to invite us to contribute financially to support the work of UMCOR and their partners on the ground. Every gift, whether it is large or small, helps provide emergency shelter, medical care, clean water, and other assistance to those in need.
How to Give:
- Through our church website www.johnwesleyumc.org(select “Disaster Relief – Hurricane Melissa”)
- By check (write “Hurricane Melissa Relief” in the memo)
Or by visiting UMCOR’s website: https://umcmission.org/giving
Together, we can be part of God’s healing work in the world.
