This Week's Announcements:

Dear Grace Covenant Congregation and Friends,

Many of you may have seen the news article regarding an incident that took place at SolVerus Academy, the school that leases part of our building. The incident did not involve Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church or its staff, ministries, or operations.

SolVerus is a separate and private organization with its own leadership and administration. As such, the church is not involved in its operations.

Grace and peace,

Pastor Trish

Pastor Trish Out of Office 10/1 - 10/11

Pastor Trish will be on her annual pilgrimage between Thursday,

October 1st and Sunday, October 11th. If you have a pastoral emergency during this time, please contact the church office or a member of session. Click here for the session contact list.

Please offer Pastor Trish your prayers for a safe journey to the Badlands of South Dakota!

Meet our Guest Pastor!

A member of Foothills Presbytery for the past 20 years, Dr. Dennis Tedder served as pastor for First Presbyterian Church, Anderson, SC until retiring in 2025, one year and a few days ago. His previous pastorates included First Presbyterian, Clinton, SC, Bethesda Presbyterian, Camden, SC, and Franklin (VA) Presbyterian.  He and spouse Anne, who served stints as a church educator as well as on the Anderson YMCA staff, have two adult sons and two delightful daughters-in-law.

A native of Florence, SC, Dennis is grateful for life in the upstate, though he has strong feelings about proper Carolina barbecue.

Congregational Meeting Notice

Upon receiving a report from the Officer Nominating Committee, the Session has called a congregational meeting for October 18 at the close of worship for the purpose of electing 3 Elders and 1 Trustee.

The nominees for your consideration are:

Linda Cossaboon - Congregational Care (Class of 2028)

Being involved with church has always been an important part of my life. I grew up attending the neighborhood church and that church, Trinity United Church of Christ holds many fond memories for me. This is the church where we were married, our children were baptized, but most of all this is the church where I found my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Shortly after our children were born, we moved to Bordentown New Jersey and this is where we resided and raised our family for the next 31 years. Through our neighbors we found Covenant Presbyterian Church, and this became “Our Church”. At Covenant I found myself over the years, along with Paul, serving the Lord in many different ways. Serving on Session, Board of Deacons, Congregational Life and Fellowship, Worship and Music and visiting our shut-ins. Upon retiring in September 2015 and moving to South Carolina, we knew it was important to find a church that we could call home. A church that not only preached the Gospel but lived it. We found that here at Grace Covenant. I have served on Session prior and feel humbled and blessed to once again be asked to serve in this capacity.

Sarah Lasitter - Worship (Class of 2028)

Sarah Lasitter has been a member since 1991 and has served as an elder several times, variously chairing Worship and CE and serving as Clerk of Session. She is completing a 2-year term as Worship Chair and will serve two more years if elected. She is a retired school psychologist and is grateful to have more time to spend on church work these days.

Tami Wall - Christian Education (Class of 2028)

I have lived in the Greenville area my entire life and raised my daughter Casey and son Cody here. Growing up a ‘church rat’, I am a ‘grass roots’ Christian educator. I’ve made a career in the church arena since the age of 18- serving as youth camp; children’s director or as church educator in several churches and directing faith-based preschools. I am currently the director at John Knox Presbyterian Kindergarten. I actually attended kindergarten at Grace Covenant over sixty years ago. I began attending worship back in the spring and joined over the summer. I was drawn to the sincerity of Trish’s sermons and have come to love the warmth and vibrancy of this congregation and their focus on missions and social justice. I am enjoying singing in the choir. In my spare time I read, do art and visit my grandchildren. I look forward to adding, hopefully, my meager gifts to the wonderful ministry at Grace Covenant.

David Tinga - Trustee (Class of 2029)

I joined Grace Covenant in 1987 at the invitation of a neighbor. I have been privileged to serve as a Deacon and an Elder. Over the years I have participated in several areas of the church including the Fellowship committee, Property committee, Administration committee, Pastor Nominating committee, Officer Nominating committee , usher team and the communion prep team. I retired 5 years ago after a career as an insurance adjuster. I enjoy traveling and spending time with family.

In accordance with the Book of Order (G-2.0401), full opportunity shall be given for nominations from the floor by any active member of the congregation. Before making a nomination from the floor it is required that you obtain the permission of the person you wish to nominate.

All active members of the congregation may vote, so please plan to participate in this important business of the church at the conclusion of worship on October 18 .

Interested in Joining?

If you’ve found a church home at Grace Covenant and would like to make your connection more official, we would love to welcome you as

a member.

Membership isn’t about receiving special treatment—everyone who is part of our community is valued and welcomed. Rather, membership is a commitment: a way of saying, This is the community where I want to follow Jesus alongside others who are seeking to do the same.

A new member class will be offered soon. If you’re interested in joining—or simply want to learn more about Grace Covenant—please contact the church office. We’d be delighted to have you!

SOCKtober is here!

This October, Grace Covenant, Eastminster, Simpsonville Presbyterian, and Fountain Inn Presbyterian are joining together for our first combined mission and outreach project.

We’re collecting new socks in all sizes and for all ages. In November, we’ll donate them to The Lord’s Table Feeds, which will distribute them along with hot meals at Fountain Inn Presbyterian Church.

Please place your socks in the SOCKtober box in the Greeting Room. Let’s help our neighbors put their best foot forward!

October is Water Month

Water is a precious resource that we often take for granted. Join the Water Mission at the Greenville Walk for Water on Saturday, November 7th. Click here for more information.

Each week, Grace Covenant will be praying for a person who lives in a part of the world without access to clean water. This week, we are lifting up Mary. Mary has faced unimaginable challenges, including the loss of her husband and child. She lives in Bidibidi refugee camp in Uganda, where Water Mission provides safe water solutions. Mary says, "My faith has made me survive, and I know that my God has strengthened me."
