Tennis and Pickleball Public Workshop Recap
A workshop to discuss tennis and pickleball in Coronado earlier this week drew 70 people who provided important public feedback that will be used to guide a follow-up workshop. The Aug. 31 workshop consisted of seven stations where participants were asked to select their preferences on various topics solicited through public comment at the April 28 Special City Council and Aug. 9 Parks and Recreation Commission meetings. Information gathered at the workshop is being collected and an analysis of tennis facilities around the region is currently being reviewed to help staff develop a program for the follow-up workshop. Originally set for Sept. 8, the follow-up workshop has been postponed. As soon as a new date, time and location have been determined, staff will let the community know.
Cays Park Master Plan Public Workshop Set for Sept. 9
A public workshop is set for next week to briefly summarize what staff has heard from residents over the past 18 months regarding a long-term plan for Cays Park and to obtain consensus regarding design guidelines. Prior to the pandemic, the City conducted outreach on a proposed “Cays Park Master Plan” project with online surveys, workshops, updates in City publications and at public meetings. The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 9, in the Community Center, 1845 Strand Way. The meeting will be live-streamed on the City’s Facebook page and re-broadcast on Coronado TV following the meeting. The City restarted the project in May with an update to the Parks and Recreation Commission and received additional community input. Design guidelines that receive consensus will be used to develop design elements, including renderings, for the public’s consideration at a future workshop prior to the creation of the master plan. Attendees will be required to wear masks. For more information contact Principal Engineer Jim Newton at (619) 522-7313 or jnewton@coronado.ca.us.
