August Good Day Dakota County
Focused on Healthy and Safe Communities
After a few months off, we continued our Good Day Dakota County series Tuesday, August 13, at Southview Country Club. We were lucky to have Tim Leslie, Sheriff of Dakota County, and Jim Backstrom, Dakota County Attorney, as this month’s speakers. Sheriff Leslie spoke about what county law enforcement is doing to make Dakota County a healthy, safe and, thriving community. County Attorney Backstrom spoke about programs being implemented and trends seen in the Dakota County judicial system. Local Organizations Named Employers of Excellence
12 winners from Dakota and Scott counties
The Dakota-Scott Workforce Development Board has recognized 12 area organizations as Employers of Excellence for their employee retention, compensation, and training practices. The Workforce Development Board wanted to recognize some of the best employers in Dakota and Scott counties and provide vital information to companies about the practices they use to attract and retain employees.
Each participant completed a 40-question survey that allowed their employment practices to be analyzed by a consulting firm. Every organization participating in the survey received a 20-page report detailing the information on their company and the results of the survey.

Drake Bank Welcomes Scott Swenson as Senior Vice President and Chief Banking Officer
Drake Bank, located in St. Paul, recently hired several new staff to boost their banking and operations teams as they continue to execute growth plans. Scott Swenson will lead and
manage the commercial and retail banking team.
In 2018, Scott received the Dakota County Regional Chamber Legacy Award. A resident of Eagan, Scott will continue his volunteer and leadership roles in Eagan and Dakota County. Scott has extensive experience in commercial and retail banking and is looking forward to supporting Drake Bank’s continued growth within the Twin Cities.

Opportunities are available for business owners to connect with other business owners through the Business Owners Roundtable group (BORT). This group meets the first Wednesday of the month from 12:00 - 1:30 p.m., in the Chamber offices. This group provides a forum exclusively for owners to network, share business concerns, and give/receive advice and support. The group is limited to one owner per business classification. Come and check out DCRC ChamberLead. ChamberLead is FREE to DCRC members. This small group of 10-15 active DCRC members meets the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of every month from 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. at the DCRC offices. Members give updates on their local businesses, discuss business topics and spend time setting up one-on-one socials, networking, and sharing referrals.
