Flowers on Sunday morning may be sponsored by members of the congregation in memory of loved ones or in thanksgiving for blessings received. The minimum donation is $75. Please contact the parish office to reserve a date.

Annual Parish Meeting

Please join us for the Annual Meeting. A new class of Vestry members will be elected, and an update will be given on the current parish development project. Your presence matters, and all members of the congregation are encouraged to attend as we continue the work of the church together. A member must be in good standing to vote at the annual meeting.

Black History Month at St. John's Cathedral

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS


The time has once again come for our annual celebration of Black History Month. It seems like only a week ago that I penned an article about our plans for February last year.

This year’s theme is “A Century of Black History Commemorations,” as set forth by the Association for the Study of African American Life and History. The observance was originally founded by Carter G. Woodson, the “father of Black History.” Woodson’s mission was to share and preserve the particular contributions of Black culture. In 1926 he launched the first Negro History Week, and fifty years later President Gerald Ford officially expanded it to a month in 1976. Read more.

Children, Youth, and Family Meeting

Families will gather in the parish office for a conversation about children, youth, and family life at St. John's Cathedral. Participants will focus on actively listening to one another. Parents, clergy, and other parishioners will share their hopes, experiences, and needs as we reflect on how we support community. This gathering will help shape future, more focused conversations.

Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles receives consents for Bishop-elect Antonio José Gallardo Lucena


[The Episcopal Church Weekly]The standing committees and bishops exercising jurisdiction have given the required majority of consents to the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles for its Nov. 8 election of the Rev. In Echo Park, overflow crowd takes immigration response training after weekend ICE activity


[The Episcopal News] An overflow crowd of more than 200 people attended an immigration response training co-hosted by the Echo Park Neighborhood Council and the Office of Los Angeles City Councilmember Eunisses Hernandez Jan. 27 in the Great Hall of St. Paul's Commons. Organizers said triple the number of anticipated participants gathered, many galvanized by federal ICE activity and at least one arrest near the intersection of Echo Park Avenue and Sunset Boulevard on Sunday, Jan. 25. The Neighborhood Council conducts its monthly business meetings at St. Paul's Commons.
