Sunday, May 3
8.00 a.m. and 10.00 am
The Rev. Anthony will preach this Sunday following his retirement last year from nearly two decades of service with The Episcopal Church's Latino/Hispanic ministries.
Guillén began his church center ministry in 2005 as missioner for Latino/Hispanic Ministries and was appointed director of Ethnic Ministries in 2015. Under his leadership, the church significantly expanded its outreach to Latino and bicultural Episcopalians, including through the biennial Nuevo Amanecer gathering for those involved in Latino ministries; the New Camino seminar for clergy, diocesan staff, and lay leaders; and the Episcopal Latino Ministry Competency Course, which has trained over 600 lay and ordained leaders to build and support Latino ministry in their own contexts.

Serving the Lord with Gladness
Members of St. John's Cathedral are living out their faith in the heart of Los Angeles and beyond. Susan Edwards is being honored at the Downtown Women's Center (DWC) during volunteer appreciation month as she helps women and survivors of violence experiencing homelessness use computers to complete trainings, apply for jobs, and find other resources on their path to employment and economic stability. Like so many of our parishioners, Susan takes the call of our dismissal to "Go in peace to love and serve the Lord" seriously. We give thanks for all the ways that Susan offers her leadership and service. The DWC has put together a video that shows a bit more about her important work. Watch here.

Sunday Flowers: Spreading Cheer
Flowers have long been a beautiful expression of love, and most Sundays they brighten worship at St. John’s Cathedral.
We’d love to share this beauty beyond our walls—because love is meant to be given away.
A “Flower Power Crew” is being formed to help restart a delivery of our sanctuary flowers to the Downtown Women’s Center just like devoted parishioner Bob Bowen used to do. The center is just a short drive from the Cathedral. It’s a simple but meaningful way to bring encouragement and care to others in our community.
If you feel called to help spread the love of Christ in this way, please consider joining us. Contact the church office to get involved.

- Store volunteers to help with stocking and supporting clients when they come to shop.
