Celebrating the longstanding presence and influence of Native Americans throughout the history of The Episcopal Church, Indigenous Ministries works for the full inclusion of Indigenous people in the church’s life and leadership. We welcome partners who join us in providing resources, advocacy, and leadership opportunities. As an institution, The Episcopal Church recognizes and repents of its harmful treatment of Native Americans. [Source]

Photo Directory: Get Your Picture Taken

Sunday, October 11

9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

St. John’s Cathedral has had photo membership directories in the past, but it’s been a while.

Back by popular demand, we are creating a picture membership directory for all pledging members of St. John’s. You can opt in or out, and include whatever information you wish to share. Please RSVP with Senior Warden, Canon Lurelean Gaines.

We are asking for a $10 donation to offset expenses. For $20 you can give the gift of a beautiful photograph to another member. The directory will be published by the holidays. Let us expand our circles of friends.

The Weekly Update

Beware of Email Scams

Always, with every email check the email address. If you do not know the sender, do not engage. Our clergy and staff email addresses in with @stjohnsla.org. Check for spelling and grammar. These emails usually start with a simple message that they would like to meet with you concerning something discreet. There are spelling and grammar errors, or names misspelled. Do not send them money. No one on staff at St. John's will ever ask you for a "secret favor" or to send them money. Be cautious of displaying personal information online. Criminal networks scan websites and social media for publicly available information that they can use to steal money from you. Be a good citizen. If you receive an email like this please report it as spam or phishing.

A stewardship campaign is necessarily about financial gifts. Just as importantly, it is about relationships: the ways we are connected to God, one another, and our neighbors. Our giving makes those relationships tangible, strengthening the community we share and extending its welcome to others... Continue Reading

Baptisms are traditionally held at the Easter Vigil, the Day of Pentecost, All Saint's Day, and the Feast of the Baptism of our Lord. Please connect with clergy or with the parish office as soon as possible if you or someone you know would like to be welcomed into Christ's Body, the church. In baptism we receive new life through the Holy Spirit and the forgiveness of sins. Baptism is the foundation for all future church participation and ministry.
