Flowers this Sunday are offered by the parish to honor the love of all our grandparents and great grandparents past and present. Please contact the parish office if you wish to learn more about sponsoring Sunday morning flowers. The minimum donation is seventy-five dollars. Joint sponsorships are welcome. A sponsorship sign up has been placed on the bulletin board in the fountain courtyard.
Members are encouraged to host coffee hour on a Sunday in the month of their birthday by contacting the Rev. Mel Soriano.
Please contact the parish office if you wish to be included on the cathedral prayer list.

Grandparent's Day

All grandparents and their families are invited to stay after the 10:00 a.m. service this Sunday for a joyful Grandparents’ Day celebration!
The congregation will celebrate the special presence grandparents bring to our church family. We’ll have something for everyone to enjoy after church, including games, raffles and prizes, family photos, a bounce house, and plenty of delicious food and treats!
Come make some memories with us—we can’t wait to celebrate our grandparents and the wonderful families they help bring together! Many thanks to Every Member Matters @ St. John's for all their hard work and preparation.

The Season of Creation
The Season of Creation, also known as “Creationtide” in the Church of England, is an annual Christian observance dedicated to prayer, reflection, and care for God’s creation. During this special season, Christians around the world come together across denominations to listen to the needs of our shared home and consider how we can faithfully respond to the challenges facing the natural world.
The season continues through October 4, the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi. We invite you to join Christians around the world in celebrating the Season of Creation this year.

Scripture reminds us in 1 John 3:18 that we are called not to love with words alone, but with actions and in truth. The Ministry Fair is a wonderful way to put that calling into practice. Each ministry will have a table where you can meet leaders, ask questions, and discover how your gifts can make a difference. Whether it’s through creative arts, hospitality, teaching, service, or behind-the-scenes support, there’s a place for you to show Christ’s love in action. Come and see how you can grow in faith while serving others.

Sunday School Starts Soon

We are excited to share some wonderful news about our ministry with Children, Youth, and Families at St. John’s.
Dr. Luisa Bonillas has joined the staff on a part-time basis to guide our Children, Youth, and Families ministry. We are delighted to welcome Luisa into this role and excited about the gifts, energy, and ideas she brings as we continue growing this important ministry at St. John’s.
With this new chapter, we’re also making a change to our Sunday schedule. Children’s Chapel will transition to a new Sunday School program following the 10am service. It will coincide with the adult education hour that will begin October 4. Starting this Sunday, children will stay in the church during the 10am service. This new schedule gives us more time with our children than we’ve had during Children’s Chapel. We’ll be able to explore Bible stories and our faith through conversation, art, activities, music, prayer, and, of course, plenty of fun.
We are grateful for all the children and families who have been part of Children’s Chapel, and we look forward to what St. John’s and our families can build together in this next chapter. All are invited to bring questions and ideas to Luisa at the coffee hours.
More details about Sunday School will be coming soon. For now, please mark September 27 on your calendar. We can’t wait to see you!

Join Asiamerica Ministries’ Chinese Convocation meeting in Los Angeles

[The Episcopal Church Weekly] The 2026 Chinese Convocation, offered by The Episcopal Church's Asiamerica Ministries, will gather in Los Angeles, Calif. This event brings together Chinese American Episcopalians to connect with one another, learn together, and discern ongoing ministries. Attendees will explore more deeply the gifts of their identity as Chinese Americans in The Episcopal Church and build relationships across the church. There will be a 90-minute workshop from Wonder Aloud, a ministry devoted to companioning people on their path to spiritual wholeness that is rooted in sacred wonder, attentive care, and prayerful stillness. Compline returns for the months of October and November. Come step away from the busyness of the day, rest for a while in the stillness of God’s presence, and share in a peaceful service before returning home for the evening. The short liturgy is divided into several sections: the chanting of psalms, scripture, and prayers. Be sure to take note of the new time!
