Parish Hall

There were just a few diversions involving Genesis (the band as well as the book) as well as Cardi B and Offset. This week we will explore best practices for nurturing your marriage whether you have been married seven months, seven years, or seventy years. Then, at about ten to the hour, we’ll switch gears and talk about your hopes for ministry with children and their families at All Saints Church.

Sundays Music
ANTHEM STORY-O SING JOYFULLY
Adrian Batten (1591-1637) was one of the most prolific composers of Anglican service music and anthems during the early 17th century. Sunday’s lively anthem “O Sing Joyfully” is his most well-known work – a hit with choirs for 300+ years. The text, based on Psalm 81, implores us to “make a cheerful noise unto the God of Jacob.” A child chorister at England’s Winchester Cathedral, Batten later held choir and organ posts at Westminster Abbey and St. Paul’s Cathedral. To augment his income at Westminster Abbey, Batten worked as a copyist, helping to preserve much church music of the time.
