Policy News
Andrew Tomlinson, CHIME’s director of federal affairs, discussed implications of a delay in enforcing information sharing provisions in final rules released recently by the Department of Health and Human Services. The article appeared in GovInfoSecurity.com.

Interoperability Rules Update: On Tuesday, the administration released revised deadlines for companion interoperability rules with revised compliance deadlines and some enforcement discretion aimed at the vendor community. They have not released enforcement policies for providers. An overview of new compliance dates can be found here . We will send out revised rule summaries shortly to reflect the new deadlines.

Congress Acts Again: This week caps another busy one in Washington. Congress cleared another spending package, H.R. 266, Paycheck Protection Program and Health Care Enhancement Act . T he package infuses another $484 billion into the economy, bringing the total amount of federal COVID assistance to $2.7 trillion. This bill, widely referred to as stimulus version “3.5,” includes $75 billion in relief for hospitals and $25 billion for testing.

Hospital Monies Flowing : Meanwhile, the administration started sending funding to hospitals, albeit with some glitches. Amid filing confusion over requested data, the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) is set to release the next wave of funding, following on the $30 billion already released. This will include $20 billion distributed to providers across the country, $10 billion for hospitals in high-impact regions, $10 billion for rural providers, $400 million for the Indian Health Service and a fund for the uninsured.

Telehealth: The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released a new Medicaid telehealth toolkit
