On May 1, 2020 the new E-notifications Condition of Participation was published as part of the Interoperability and Patient Access Rule (CMS-9115-F) in the Federal Register and hospitals have until May 1, 2021 to comply. The intent of this new CoP is to support care coordination across the care continuum and eliminate barriers to information sharing. It requires all hospitals, psychiatric hospitals, and Critical Access Hospitals utilizing an electronic medical records system to make a reasonable effort to send ADT notifications to post-acute providers, primary care practitioners, practice groups and entities that need the information for treatment, care coordination, or quality improvement activities. Join PatientPing to discuss how leaders are interpreting the rule and how to prepare for compliance.
