Greetings Raptor Families

We hope that this week’s newsletter finds all of you well and healthy! We had a busy week at LLCA this past week. In the classroom, teachers and students refocused on learning after our Thanksgiving break. We now have only two weeks left before Christmas vacation, and we want to make the most of these last days of the semester. Our Raptors were also busy outside of the classroom: Our elementary and middle school students took part in the “Lighting of the Bridge” ceremony in Lake Lure; our high school students had club day on Thursday; our basketball teams brought home wins this week, and nearly fifty elementary students took part in Kids’ Night Out this past Friday. What a great week it was to be a Raptor!

The administrative team would like to thank our Raptor families for the attention that has been given to uniforms. We do need to remind parents and students of a few uniform policies: Hoodies must be solid in color (only black, royal blue, or gray), and they must be free of logos, images, words, etc. Crocs are not allowed. And socks also should be solid in color (only white, black, royal blue, or gray). These are some of the continued uniform violations that we are seeing. We certainly appreciate your help with uniforms, as it is our intention and hope to have complete and full compliance by the beginning of the second semester when students return to school in January. If you have any questions or need help with uniform items, please do not hesitate to contact a member of the administrative team.

At this time we are still requiring masks to be worn indoors by all staff, students, and visitors. Thank you for making sure your child has a mask to wear at school.
We must continue our mitigation efforts to keep our numbers down throughout the cold and flu season.
Hand washing, maintaining a safe distance, and wearing your mask properly while in school are all important ways to stay well this season.

Today, Saturday, December 4th - Santa on the Rock
Chimney Rock State Park. LLCA students and families will meet at 12:00 p.m. in front of the gift shop and we will start singing at 12:30. We will finish up at 1:00 p.m. and Santa will rappelle the rock at that time. Bring your family.

All Raptors have free admission to the Park today.

"Breakfast-on-the-GO"
Breakfast-on-the-Go is our mobile cart parked in the front of the school. Students can grab fresh fruits, and healthy, hand-held snacks as well as milk and other healthy drink options.

Our hope is that this will bridge the gap on many levels in providing early, healthy nutrition for students, and thereby increase brain power for the day.

PTO: Teacher Lunch Donations Needed:
We are hosting a Teacher Lunch this Monday, December 6th. We have ordered sandwich trays from Ingles and will pick up some sides and drinks. Ingles has graciously offered a discount, but we are still in need of donations to cover the costs, so please donate $1 - $5 to the LLCA PTO Venmo account @LLCA-PTO or you can leave money at the front office in an envelope for LLCA PTO.

Barn Cleanings:
If you or your children would like to participate in an upcoming barn cleaning fundraiser, please contact Genevieve Helms at [email protected].

Have you checked out the PTO's Teacher Needs website?
This handy tool allows you to see the needs of each teacher or staff member, then sign up to fulfill that need. Every little bit helps us reach our goal of checking these needs off the list.

PLEASE SHARE it with friends and family members. Items can be dropped off or shipped directly to the school from anywhere! Thanks so much for sharing and donating!
