Dear Cornerstone Family,
I continue to be amazed at God’s provision for Cornerstone. It is a testimony that God does not leave us to fend for ourselves. When God declares that he is with us, we can have great confidence that he will be with us through thick or thin.
I hope you have had that experience during these months when your normal way of life has been turned completely upside down. I hope you have used this time to grow close to God and I hope you have seen that he provides. God works in ways that we would never expect. It can often look as if he is not involved with us much at all but then, as time goes by, you begin to see that he has been doing a great work among us the whole time.
The story of David and Joseph in the Old Testament is testimony towards that end. David was anointed by Samuel when he was just a teenager, and it would be many years later that God moved to make David king over Israel. David was being molded and shaped by God’s grace into the person he needed to be in order to become king. He had to endure a lot of suffering to get there but God was with him all along the way.
The same is true of Joseph, sold into slavery by his brothers seeking revenge on him. God would take him through the school of suffering and use him to lead God’s people to prosperity in Egypt. The Lord never abandoned him all those years. God is not confined by days or weeks or years. He is at work accomplishing his ends according to his perfect timing. His will is always what is best for us. Someone once said, Never doubt in darkness what God has shown you in the light. If we let that sink in, we will have a good basis to completely rely on God.
Quivira Property:
The sale of our Quivira property is one of the ways that Lord has shown us that he is taking care of us. The group that purchased the land gave us an offer that was too good to pass up. The Session has now asked for the Finance Team to evaluate all our options and then provide recommendations to the Session for the use of this money. The Lord has blessed us with a great team of financial minds for this effort (Terry Betzelberger, Bill Goodman, Denny Hamblin, Laura Randol, Clark Stewart, Lance Hodges) and they will be meeting weekly to evaluate and strategize. We will keep you posted along the way.
Director of Student Ministries:
After almost two years searching, we are thrilled to have Cody Pritchett join our ministry team as our new Director of Student Ministries. He and his wife, Hannah, plan to arrive in Kansas in early March to begin their ministry with us. We will have the opportunity to be introduced to them during our Sunday morning services and we will provide an opportunity through video for those of you who can’t be with us in person.
Eagle Lake Day Camp:
We have been amazed by the number of kids that have already registered for camp this summer. As of this week, we have over 60 kids signed up and again the Lord is giving us an opportunity to minister to our community. We are praying for at least 100 kids to be a part of camp this year.
As you hear all of this great news, be encouraged that despite this difficult year, the Lord is continuing to work and accomplish his ends at Cornerstone. These are just a few of the ways God is blessing us and it something we should all be grateful for.
For His Kingdom,
