June 14th- June 20th

A Note from Pastor Jo Ann

Celebrating our love and compassion for all generations, we move from celebrating the Schlegel family in worship and fellowship this past Sunday to remembering and honoring Mid Connelly on Saturday at 11. Thank you to the many volunteers who have already decorated, provided food and offered practical acts of hospitality. Mid's family will provide a simple lunch and we are seeking a few members to help with serving and clean-up.

How many people does it take to run a church? It has been a full week and we are only just beginning.

This week we transition two talented young women into staff roles. Robin Stranahan will manage the church office from 9-2 each Monday through Thursday. She is a great leader and collaborator and was fortunate to have two weeks overlap with Megan. A top priority for Robin will be updating our website and social media. Linda Green will offer support in the details of this project.

Going forward, Sanam vonKaenel will lead our youth and children's ministry programs. She will be formally introduced to our children this Sunday and will meet with the youth during worship. There will an event for families at 2 pm on Saturday the 24th. Titled a "Kick Off Event" there will be food, conversation and some activities with a soccer ball. Sanam would also like to meet with parents after worship on June 24. Her advisory group includes Brandy Young, Meghan Green, Tyler Brinkman and Agatha Asiimwe.

Join us for a lively and full service this Sunday. We will celebrate the men in our lives, offer highlights of the Annual Conference gathering in Tacoma and offer opportunities to support our ministries. I hope to see you all soon and often.

Join me in prayer for Marie Stephenson as she grieves the recent loss of her son. Much appreciation to the many who rallied around Tony and Ann Siegmund this past Sunday. Tony fell during fellowship on Sunday and was taken to the hospital for testing. He returned home on Sunday evening with no significant findings.

With love and blessings,

Pastor Jo Ann

Father's Day

Sunday June 18th Join us for Worship at 10:00am. We will have a special gift for father's following the service.

Juneteenth

Monday June 19th Pastor Jo Ann will be speaking after a screening of Buffalo Soldiers: Fighting on Two Fronts at the Old Liberty Theater.

Work Party

Join us Friday at 9:30am for a couple of hours to mow, trim and clean up the children's play area - including weeding the volleyball court. These areas will be used quite a bit over the next few months and it will be great to start with a clean, well trimmed playground! If you can help for any/all of this time it will be much appreciated.

Flower Team Help

Is the Flower Team the place for you? Do flowers and other natural materials make you feel excited and creative? Flower Team currently consists of 6 people. We take turns to provide weekly altar arrangements and centerpieces for the fellowship hall tables. We purchase flowers to do this, but we also use a lot from each other's gardens. We help with holiday or special events decorating.

Here are some ways you could participate to support the team:

   1. Share flowers or other interesting materials from your yard or garden.

   2. Help us with special occasions--holidays or other special events (dinners, potlucks)

   3. Provide an altar arrangement in remembrance of a special person, birthday, or anniversary.

   4. Become a member of the Flower Team. Experience the joy and fun of sharing your creativity with your congregation..

If you are interested in Flower Team, contact Jan Southard or Carolyn Almond

Sunday School Volunteers Needed

Each Sunday we need a volunteer to join Dale's Sunday School class, as a way of honoring our Safe Sanctuaries Policy, which is in place to help keep church a safe place for all. Volunteers are not required to do any teaching or preparatory work, but their participation is very welcome! Additionally, Brandy Young is helping to lead our new 3rd & 4th grade Sunday School class but we will need an adult leader 1-2 times/month. If you feel you could offer one Sunday every 6-8 weeks for this important effort, please sign up using the link below.
