From Cloak to Community: Saying Yes to God’s Call

Hello St. Lukers,

On Sunday, we’ll gather for World Communion Sunday and hear the story of Elisha picking up Elijah’s cloak. We are reminded that joy begins when we say “yes” to what God calls us to carry, even when it feels heavy or unfamiliar. Like Elisha, we step into the legacy of those who came before us, trusting that God meets us in the moment of obedience.

We invite you to “pick up the cloak” of joyful service with Sleep in Heavenly Peace, next Saturday, October 11, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at St. Luke’s as we build 80 beds! No experience is needed, and children are welcome to participate. We need your help! Register here to join us.

(Please note: Sleep in Heavenly Peace has been rescheduled from October 4 to October 11 due to potential inclement weather.)

Many of you have seen the beds displayed outside of worship in recent weeks. These beds represent what we can make to help the 800,000 children across the United States who don’t have a bed to sleep in. A bed offers more than just rest; it provides stability, hope, and a place for a child to recharge. It truly makes a difference.

Right now, nearly 500 children in own community of Orlando are on the waiting list for a bed through Sleep in Heavenly Peace. You can help change that.

In addition to building, we also need volunteers to deliver beds. When you deliver a bed, you witness the immediate joy of serving with dignity and giving a child a place of rest. Delivery opportunities are available on Tuesdays and Saturdays with a team of St. Lukers. For more information, contact us at serve@st.lukes.org.

Let’s carry the mantle of those who have served before us and discover the joy of serving together.

With gratitude,

The Missions Team

Reminder: St. Luke’s will be having a Charge Conference on Tuesday, October 7 at 6:30 p.m. in Founder's Hall. Rev. Corey Jones will preside over the meeting, and everyone is welcome. Email Scooter Leonard with questions and we will see you there.

St. Luke's Week in Review

An Inspiring Morning with Men's Ministry

Earlier this month, nearly 50 men came together for coffee, breakfast, and fellowship. The room buzzed as the group shared stories, encouragement, and laughter!

Our guest speaker, Tony Battie, a 14-year NBA veteran, inspired us with moments from his journey both on and off the court. He reminded us how perseverance, faith, and community can shape a life far beyond achievements and statistics.

Save the date: Our next Men’s Breakfast is coming up on October 16! For details and to RSVP visit st.lukes.org/breakfast.

Trading Desks for Hard Hats

Last week, the St. Luke's staff spent a day volunteering with Habitat for Humanity in East Winter Garden, where construction on 4 new homes began in May. From hammering nails to hauling materials, they worked hard, laughed plenty, and loved serving together.

What a joy to help create a place where families will soon call “home.”
