Chosen to Advocate, Called to Love

Dear St. Lukers,

Last week, our Director of Missions Development, Saniye Kazan, and I had the privilege of traveling to Washington, DC, to join nearly 2,000 United Methodists advocating for those that Scripture calls us to protect: immigrants, children, and people experiencing hunger. We hand-delivered 88 letters from you to your senators’ and representatives’ offices, and many more of you have called or emailed your congressional leaders in recent days.

Some of you have thanked Saniye and me for going, but the real thanks belongs to you. You are a church that doesn’t just speak about justice; you act on it.

For years, Pastor Jenn has reminded us that each of us carries the voice of a theologian. We are called to live as disciples and to advocate for “the least of these.” How we treat one another, how we use our influence, and how we speak about people and issues all reflect the ways God is transforming us. Our faith is not passive; it is lived out each and every day.

This Sunday...

Our next round of Listening Posts with Pastor Corey begins next week, and we’d love for you to join the conversation! These relaxed, small-group gatherings are a welcoming space to share your experiences, stories, and reflections as part of the St. Luke’s community while Pastor Corey listens and learns from you. Whether you’ve been here for years or are new to the community, we hope you’ll come to connect and be heard.

Already registered? Great – you’re all set! We’ll be sending out session details and reminders soon. No additional action is needed at this time.

St. Luke's In Review

Bringing Hymns to Life

This past weekend, HymnSong brought our favorite hymns to life, filling the Sanctuary with joyful sounds of praise and worship!

The collaboration between St. Luke’s and Encore Performing Arts has been such a beautiful time of community building. With 130 voices in the choir, 50 musicians in the orchestra, incredible soloists, and heartfelt storytelling, it was a weekend of music that moved everyone in powerful ways.

We were also honored to share a portion of the proceeds with the Florida Immigration Law and Justice Center, which provides low-income immigrants across Florida with legal support, education, and community resources.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make HymnSong 2026 so special.

A Day of Grace, Growth, and Generational Healing

Last weekend, women from their 20s through their 70s gathered on campus for a powerful, grace-filled retreat focused on recovering from purity culture. Together with Dr. Camden Morgante, we explored the myths and harmful messages many women received about their bodies, worth, and faith.

Throughout the day, we learned how purity culture has shaped our stories and how we can begin to heal, reclaim wholeness, and ensure we do not pass those harmful messages on to the next generation. The conversations were thoughtful, the food and fellowship were joyful, and the community that formed across generations was truly beautiful.

Thank you to Dr. Morgante for coming to share this time with us, and to every woman who showed up with honesty, courage, and openness.

As we prepare to celebrate Pastor Jenn’s incredible legacy at St. Luke’s, we’re inviting you to help us create a meaningful farewell gift for her. Jenn has helped write so many chapters of our story – now it’s our turn to write one for her.

We’re collecting notes, memories, and messages of gratitude from the congregation and will compile them into a bound book for Jenn to take with her on her new adventure to the conference.

You’re welcome to email your message to ThanksJenn@st.lukes.org or drop off/mail a handwritten note at the church office (Attn: Rachel Romoser).

Please send your message by March 8.
