William Baker Festival Singers becomes
Chorus-in-Residence at St. Mary's
St. Mary's family,

This past Tuesday, the Vestry unanimously approved the appointment of the William Baker Festival Singers as Chorus-In-Residence at St. Mary's. St. Mary's will become the primary concert home of the 50-voice semi-professional chorale, as the choir performs three subscription concerts each season and presents choral music for Evensong twice per year. Beyond these specific events, the Festival Singers will collaborate with and support our Music Ministry in various other ways.

This exciting partnership is a result of collaboration between our Choirmaster/Artist-in-Residence Dr. Tony Maglione, Dr. Bill Baker, and me, and is designed to both promote outstanding choral music and advance the mission of our parish in Downtown Kansas City. Please check out the press release that is being sent to various media outlets today by clicking here.

Fr. Charles
Thank you!
To the folk of St. Mary’s:

Thank you so much for helping celebrate my graduation, and for my new friend Ludwig (on the right). Your support over the years has meant a great deal to me, and it is a great joy and privilege to serve! Peace, joy, and every blessing to you all!

Yours both humbly and proudly,
-Geoffrey Wilcken, now D.M.A.
Pastoral Care Team
The St. Mary's Pastoral Care Team recently met for the first time. The Pastoral Care Team is composed of both clergy and lay people at St. Mary's, and is here to be with you physically and spiritually when you have need for a pastoral presence in your life. We will have a regular rota of folks visiting people in their homes and, when needed, in the hospital. If you have a pastoral care need, please call 816-974-8082 or contact us via the website or cell phone. Fr. Charles or Dcn. Gerry will respond and help get the process started. Please be sure to let us know when you are sick or otherwise in need - otherwise, we won't have the opportunity to provide the care you need!
Christian Education Opportunity at St. Mary's
When: Sundays in June and July (you can come whichever weeks you're available!)

This summer, we will begin a reading club at St. Mary's as a starting ground for Christian education. C.S. Lewis, an Anglican lay theologian, wrote many works which inspired Christians to re-imagine the world in which they lived through a renewed Christian lens. The Screwtape Letters, one of his most popular works, calls Christians to reflect on the many influences calling for our time and devotion. Over nine weeks, meeting in the Tower Room following the reception after the 10am Sunday mass, we will discuss this work and the ways it shapes our Christian lives.

You can buy or borrow a copy of this book from many bookstores or libraries. The current price on Amazon is around $10 for paperback of $4 for Kindle.
