FEAST OF ST. BENEDICT OF NURSIA
SOLEMN EVENSONG & BENEDICTION OF THE
BLESSED SACRAMENT
Wednesday July 11th, 2018 | 6:00 p.m.
St. Mary's Episcopal Church

The Rule that St. Benedict wrote for his monks in the 6th century formed the basis of an approach to the Christian spiritual life that has greatly informed our own Anglican tradition. There will be a brief sermon on this topic, and a Schola of Men's Voices will sing Mendelssohn's Beati Mortui (click here for a sneak preview). All are welcome!

Are you interested in formally joining St. Mary's? Have you thought about baptism or confirmation? Give Fr. Charles a call at 913-484-2084, or email him at charleseverson@gmail.com for more information!

All members of our parish are welcome to join us!

We will be serving a hot lunch meal and the Food Pantry will be open to provide bags of groceries at that time. Christian Education Opportunity
When: Sundays in June and July (you can come whichever weeks you're available!)

This summer, we will begin a reading club at St. Mary's as a starting ground for Christian education. C.S. Lewis, an Anglican lay theologian, wrote many works which inspired Christians to re-imagine the world in which they lived through a renewed Christian lens. The Screwtape Letters, one of his most popular works, calls Christians to reflect on the many influences calling for our time and devotion. Over nine weeks, meeting in the Tower Room following the reception after the 10am Sunday mass, we will discuss this work and the ways it shapes our Christian lives.

You can buy or borrow a copy of this book from many bookstores or libraries. The current price on Amazon is around $10 for paperback of $4 for Kindle.
St. Mary's Belles
Our next meeting will be July 26 at 6pm for a salad supper in the parish hall with the ladies from St. Augustine's. A wreath making demonstration will follow the meal.

Mark your calendar - "The Meaning of Forgiveness" mini retreat with Mother Carol Sanford will be August 11 from 9:30 to 2pm. at St. Mary's. Cost $25 which includes lunch.
St. Mary's Craft Group
Our Un-Finished Objects (UFO's) craft group will meet at Bonnie Haupt's home from Noon to 7pm. Bring a craft that you have set aside, but are wanting to finish. For directions and more information, please contact Bonnie Haupt at bonniehaupt@hotmail.com. Snacks provided, come and go as you can.
