Please join us for services in person or online this Sunday. We will be on Zoom with Morning Prayer, and will also hold our 8:00 and 10:30 a.m. in- person Eucharist, followed by coffee hour in the courtyard, weather permitting. We are also live-streaming the 10:30 a.m. service if you wish to watch from home. This Sunday Mike Choquette, our Deacon Candidate, will be preaching at both the 8:00 and 10:30 a.m. services, so please join me in supporting and welcoming him to the pulpit once again.
Mike has applied for ordination to the deaconate and all of his supporting documents from me and the vestry have been submitted. The Standing Committee of the Diocese of Chicago will be reviewing his paperwork in September. Once approved, Mike will get an ordination date. I am very delighted that Mike will be getting ordained and he will then be the official deacon here at St. Mary’s. I will update you as soon as we know more.
If you are participating by phone, you can access the same service document that Zoom participants can see. Click here to view the service on your computer. (The Zoom link, phone number, and ID will remain the same every Sunday.)
Click here to download a copy of the bulletin, which is the same week-to-week
This service will also be recorded and available to watch at any time.
Rest in Peace
The funeral service for Harry Dillon will be held this Saturday August 29 at 11:00 a.m., followed by an inurnment for both Marion and Harry Dillon in the St. Mary’s Churchyard. Because of all the distancingprecautions and the COVID-19 restrictions, this service will be for family members only. However, we know that so many of you would have been in the church for this celebration of Harry. Please know that Harry’s grandchildren, Neal and Colleen, are taping this service, including the churchyard burial, so that everyone who wishes may see it and be a part of the prayers. The service will be uploaded sometime Saturday afternoon following the funeral and you can watch it any time at this link, and download the bulletin here.
We are sad to share the news with you that Elmer Gilbertson, husband of Roseann Gilbertson for 46 years, died in Barrington this past Sunday while on hospice care. Elmer had been dealing with a number of health issues. The Gilbertson’s came to St. Mary’s seven years ago. Roseann attends the 8:00 a.m. service and many of you know she has been a wonderful coffee hour host for that service. A churchyard service with inurnment will take place for close family and friends on Saturday October 17, at 3:00 p.m. in the St. Mary’s Churchyard. Please keep Roseann and all of Elmer’s family in your prayers.
Rest eternal grant to them O Lord and may light perpetual shine upon them.
CROP Walk ~ Sunday September 27
Gather at St. Mary’s, 1:45 p.m.
Kick off at 2:00 p.m.
The McHenry County CROP Walk will be held Sunday September 27, kicking off at 2:00 p.m. There are a couple ways that you can help the St. Mary’s team raise money to help eradicate hunger. You can walk with our team. We will have our kick off and leave St. Mary’s for a distanced walk at 2:00 p.m., with the option of a one mile or three mile walk route. You can also go to our page site and make a donation for our team. Our goal is $1,000. Please note that Living Waters Lutheran church is the host this year, however because of the pandemic we are doing a distanced walk of our own to raise the funds. I will be outside of St. Mary’s to sign up our walkers and to pass out special treats when the walkers return. Thank you to everyone who bought a Lou Malnati’s pizza this past Wednesday. 20% of your purchase was donated to Crop Walk.
Beginning in September, we would like to start scheduling lectors to read the lessons at the 8:00 and 10:30 a.m. services. During this trying time, we’re aware that many people may prefer online worship only, which is perfectly understandable. However, if you will be attending in person, and would like to join our current group of lectors, please contact Amy in the Parish Office. Thank you!!
