Commercial Real Estate Industry Sponsors Legislation To Address Building Delays

In partnership with the commercial real estate industry, Assemblymember Sharon Quirk-Silva (D – Fullerton) has introduced Assembly Bill 2433, the Private Permitting Review and Inspection Act. This proposed legislation would streamline the building permit process by implementing common sense reforms.

If passed, the bill would improve the efficiency of local government operations by establishing clear timelines for permit processing. The bill would also establish the conditional use of private professionals for plan-checking and inspections if a local agency fails to meet the set deadlines.

Official Kickoff of TPA Campaign Held Yesterday

Yesterday's virtual press conference was the official kickoff of the Taxpayer Protection and Government Accountability Act (TPA) campaign, as a diverse coalition of partners joined forces to support the ballot measure.

BOMA California is a supporter of TPA, which would give Californians the final decision on raising their taxes and better accountability for how state and local governments spend their money.

TPA is slated to appear on the November ballot. If you would like more information about our efforts, or if you want to help support the campaign, please contact Matthew Hargrove at mhargrove@cbpa.com.

BOMA California Joins Opposition To Job Killer SB 1116

CalChamber has tagged SB 1116 (Portantino; D-Burbank) as a job killer, citing the proposal’s requirement for employers to subsidize striking workers through additional taxes paid to the Unemployment Insurance (UI) Fund.

BOMA California is proud to join our partners at CalChamber in opposition to this bill, which would add to the historic debt of California's UI Fund and increase taxes on employers, adding further challenges to employers across California.
