Social Justice News for June
Lunches for Veterans
Second Parish will again provide bag lunches for the 6 veterans living in the Anderson Veterans Home on Fort Hill Street in Hingham. We join the other churches in town along with several community groups to provide lunches for these veterans on Tuesdays and Fridays throughout the year. This year Second Parish is responsible for the month of July.
We need to provide a bag lunch with a sandwich, bag of chips, fruit and a dessert for each of the 6 veterans. We also provide individual waters, juice or a sports drink. The lunches need to be delivered between 11:00 - 12:00 to the Anderson Veterans Home and placed in the cooler at the back of the building.
If you would like to participate in this important project, please click on the link below to sign up. There are a couple of dates available in the middle of July. If you can make lunches but can't deliver them, Peggy Mosher can help with deliver. Contact Peggy at pvmosher@gmail.com.

Second Sunday in June
The Second Sunday collection next week, June 14, will go to Womanade of the South Shore. This local organization partners with local social service agencies and the Hingham and Hull public schools to provide short-term, often emergency, financial assistance to neighbors in need, usually within 24 hours of the request. Womanade is an all-volunteer organization so 100% of all donations go directly to those in need. To read some of the stories of how Womanade has used its funds, click on the following link: https://www.womanadesouthshore.com/client-stories.html Please give generously to this worthy organization on June 14.
Cookies and Pasta for the Food Pantry
Fill the basket for the Food Pantry this month. So far we have donated over 400 pounds of food with our Sunday donations. Second Parish is closed in July and August, but the over 150 families who are served by the HFP will still be food insecure, so let’s fill the basket to overflowing before we leave for the summer.
