Upcoming Evening Prayer with Introduction to Centering Prayer:

How often does a person need to hear reminders that



1) they matter;

2) they matter to God;

3) that God’s grace is always being shared;

4) that Jesus leads us to that truth; and

5) opportunities for us to ask for help or say thank you to God are important? We need all these as often as we need oxygen to breathe.

These are all elements of our sharing at our monthly Evening Prayer gatherings. We keep the gatherings simple (we mostly sing a capella, sometimes there’s guitar accompaniment) and allow plenty of space for encountering God in silence. The point is the spiritual practice of assuming a posture of receptivity to God’s presence through a word of mercy and hope - not stylized perfection.

Don't give any hesitancies about singing or silence or anything else a second thought. If you sense the need to wind down the day you've had and be in community and open to God, follow the impulse and trust that the community and the Holy Spirit pray on your behalf.

Following Evening Prayer, Pastor Michael will introduce the spiritual practice of Centering Prayer. Centering Prayer is not a mindfulness technique, mantra, or for attaining a state of bliss, it is a silent prayer practice consenting to the presence and activity of God within us.

Sharing in Evening Prayer does not require you to participate in the Centering Prayer introduction. If Centering Prayer intrigues you, but the timing is lousy, reach out to Pastor Michael (pastor@princeofpeacebrookfield.org/ 203-794-4694) to investigate other arrangements.

The church office will be closed on Monday, September 7 in observance of the Labor Day holiday.

Sanctuary Choir & Handbell Choir

No experience required. Everyone is welcome!

Have you ever wanted to sing in a choir or try your hand at handbells? Now is the perfect time!

Whether you have years of muscial experience or have never sung or played an instrument before, there is a place for you.

Rehearsals will be on Wednesday Evenings - Handbells at 6:30 p.m. and Sanctuary Choir at 7:30 p.m. starting September 9.
