FM Parking Lot
Communion Worship

You are invited to join us for FM Parking Lot Communion worship this Sunday, March 14th at 12 noon. Bring bread and wine or use the small chalice available when you arrive for this short service in your car.
WORSHIP IN MARCH

Continuing through March 2021 worship will remain at 9:30 a.m. (over Zoom).

There are four options (Five, if you count not participating at all. Not a recommended option).

1. You are invited to join us for Zoom worship and stay after for some fellowship time. You’ll need to provide your own coffee or morning beverage of choice. There is no need to leave the zoom worship meeting and enter the zoom coffee hour meeting. Worship will flow into Fellowship. And, you can stay for as little time or as long of a time as you like.

2. You are invited to join us for Zoom worship and leave when the worship has concluded.

3. You are invited to join us for Fellowship/Coffee Hour without participating in worship, where we catch up with each other, talk about PoP, and share in Christian community.

4. You may watch any of the services on our website at your convenience as an individual or a household.

The same Zoom invite will be used for both worship and Fellowship. You will be admitted at 9:30 a.m. for worship. If you click in close to 10:15 a.m. you will be  admitted as soon as worship is concluded.  Again, you can stay for as little time or as long of a time as you like. See the PoP weekly emails for the Zoom link. We will use the same link through the season of Lent.

10:15 a.m. Fellowship/Coffee Hour
The consensus of the Coffee/Fellowship Hour participants was to add this social time immediately following worship. So, going forward the Fellowship/Coffee Hour will begin at the conclusion of the worship service (approx. 10:15 a.m.).

Emergency Need

After a fire damaged their home, a family of 6 (2 adults,
4 children 10-14) in Brookfield is in need of temporary (4-6 months?) housing. If you have such property or know a realtor or have suggestions, please contact Pastor Lutz ASAP. This request came to me from a member of PoP who knows the parents of the family.
CREATING COMMUNITY

Creating Community is an email devotion to guide your preparation for worship for the following weekend.

Imagine how much more clear and relevant God's Word will be if you have had an opportunity to read, reflect, and dwell in the Word prior to worship. You may do this devotion as an individual, with others, as a family, or over Zoom as a small group.

Each devotion arrives on Monday and can be engaged in anytime before Sunday's worship.

The devotion includes three simple steps:

1. Read through the text (provided)

2. Respond to the questions (select one of the sets of questions from the three possibilities )

3. Offer a Prayer (one is provided)

   ROASTED ACORN SQUASH SOUP

Courtesy of Donna Vitetta

Whole acorn squash, approximately 8 cups when cooked (I use 3 squash)
6 shallots, 1 cup diced, 3 left whole and peeled
6 garlic cloves, peeled
3 tablespoons olive oil, plus 1/3 cup extra-virgin olive oil
1 tablespoon salt
1 tablespoon pepper, freshly cracked, plus more for seasoning
1 stick unsalted butter, in all
4 cups chicken stock, low-sodium
1/4 teaspoon cayenne
1/4 teaspoon white pepper
1 teaspoon sage, dry
1 teaspoon savory
1 cup heavy cream
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1/3 cup grated Parmesan

Directions:
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Cut the squash in half on the equator and remove the seeds with a spoon. Cut a flat spot on each end so the squash will sit flat. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and arrange the squash, cut side up. To 3 of the squash halves, add a peeled shallot and to the other 3 add 2 garlic cloves on each. Drizzle with 2 tablespoons of olive oil and season with 1 tablespoon each of the salt and freshly cracked pepper. Roast in the hot oven until very tender and starting to caramelize and collapse, approximately 1 hour. Remove from oven and when cool enough to handle, remove the squash from the skin. Reserve the roasted shallots and garlic with the squash. Can be done ahead.
In a large Dutch oven, heat 1 tablespoon of the olive oil and 2 tablespoons of the butter over medium-high heat and when the butter is starting to foam, add the raw diced shallots and saute until they are starting to caramelize, about 5 to 6 minutes. Deglaze with 1/2 cup of the chicken stock and stir to remove any fond. Reduce the heat to medium-low and add in the reserved squash, roasted shallots and garlic and then the remaining chicken stock. Stir to combine, then puree with a stick blender. The mixture will be very thick. Add in the cayenne, white pepper and the herbs. Stir in the cream and Worcestershire sauce and heat slowly over medium-low heat. When the mixture comes to a slow simmer, mix again with the stick blender and stir in 1/4 cup of the Parmesan and turn heat to low.
Serve with a fresh crack of black pepper, a nice drizzle of extra-virgin olive oil and a light sprinkle of remaining Parmesan. Ladle into soup bowls and serve.
Fundraiser for the Daily Bread Food Pantry

Thank you to all who have donated food and items for the Food Pantry.

It’s good to note that some are thinking about those less fortunate than many of us.
It’s hard to imagine the increasing numbers of our neighbors who are hungry and food insecure.

If you aren’t shopping, you can always donate money to the pantry at dailybreadfoodpantry.com.

We will leave the Misty Hollow garage entry door open on Saturdays through the month of March.

Call the church office or Nan if you need things to be picked up. Please continue to leave food at church.
