October 29, 2020
Dear Friends in Christ:
My prayer this week is two-fold. First, that our anxiety and stress levels will be lessened as we approach and move past November 3rd. And, second, that no matter how things turn out when the votes are counted, that we will have a gracious President-elect, and that no one will be subjected to the taunting of sore winners. These are my prayers for you, for us, and our for our country.
On to the updates . . .

WORSHIP
You can find this week's bulletin insert HERE.
All Saints Sunday Services:
[aka: The rector's favorite Feast Day]
8:00am Holy Eucharist Rite I, including distribution of bread, for those who wish to partake. Please remember: everyone must wear a mask, so please bring your own. All must enter through the parking lot doors, and provide contact information (if we don't already have it). Piano Postlude possible, because this is the rector's favorite Feast Day.
10:00 am, we will stream Holy Eucharist, Rite II, with Spiritual Communion. The service outline is HERE , and hymns are HERE. (Note: we will be using different service music than we have been lately. Music included in the hymns link.)
This service will only be available online, due to restrictions against singing together in person. There will be incense at this service, because this is the rector's favorite Feast Day.
Also, in case you missed it, Levi's postlude last Sunday was just stunning, and will help set the mood for your All Hallows Eve. You can find that postlude HERE.
Monday 7pm: No Tuesday service this week
ELECTION EVE PRAYER SERVICE
November 2nd, at 7pm, we will stream a service to pray on the eve of the election. We will begin with the Great Litany, followed by prayers for our government leaders, civic safety and civil discourse, and for the citizens of this land. We will conclude with a brief service of Compline.
Wednesday 12:30pm:
Rite II Holy Eucharist. Though we are unable to offer anointing for healing due to social distance restrictions, we will have distribution of bread for those who wish to partake. (Restrictions and guidelines are the same as Sunday 8am service.)
Thursday 7pm:
We will continue our weekly Thursday service, based on a Taize' model. You can tune in at 7pm, on Facebook and at our website. You can find an updated outline of the service HERE.
More information on all our services can be found at the Calendar page of our website, and all streamed services are then uploaded to our youtube page.

ANNUAL BLANKET DRIVE
We will once again be collecting blankets to distribute to our neighbors in need, through the Salvation Army. During the month of November, we encourage you to purchase and contribute new blankets to this ministry. You can drop them off any time the office is open, but we suggest you call first to make sure someone is here. 330.833-3183

STEWARDSHIP CAMPAIGN
Well, we've reached the point in the campaign where the Vestry will begin making their phone calls to follow up with those who have not yet pledged. While it's always nice to hear from these folks, if you'd rather not have that conversation, consider making your pledge soon!
But seriously, thanks so much to those who have returned pledge cards or pledged online.
The Vestry and I ask that you prayerfully consider your support of St. Timothy's, and to make a "best estimate" of what you expect to give in the coming year, so that we can finalize the budget for 2021.
A reminder, we have added a tab on our website, which allows you to pledge discretely online, meaning you can opt not to return the pledge card, if that's more convenient. You can find that link HERE.
Thank you in advance for your continued support of our parish.

BIRTHDAYS and ANNIVERSARIES
Celebrating birthdays this week are Hal Dill (11/2) and Etta Trimpi (11/4).
No anniversaries I'm aware of for the next few weeks.
Be sure to send happy thoughts and good wishes to all who celebrate this week!

WEEKLY PUZZLE
After Monday's online Vestry meeting, I went into the parish hall to turn off the lights and thought I'd go in and look at our windows for a minute before leaving. The angel Gabriel caught my eye, as she always does, and reminded me that there is always hope in the darkness. Always.
You will find the puzzle by clicking HERE. You can choose your background color, number of puzzle pieces, and even set it to display just the edge pieces. Plus, you get a very affirming crowd reaction once you have completed it!

BULBS BURIED!
Thanks to the small but mighty crew who planted over 300 bulbs last Saturday. It was a cold and dreary morning, but those bulbs are a reminder that there is always hope. Always.

THE WEEK AHEAD
It's no secret that these are tense and troubling times. Like many people, I have signed up to be a poll worker for Tuesday's election (since I'm relatively young and healthy), but I can't say I'm not nervous about being exposed to so many people in one day.
I have made it my goal these past months to carefully thread the needle between my predecessors the Rev. Morrell (1859-1866) and the Rev. Probasco (1873-1877). The former took his own firewood in a wheelbarrow to those in need, and the latter contracted smallpox after visiting ill parishioners, and soon passed away. We all must do what we can out of love for our neighbor, while still keeping everyone safe, ourselves included.
These are trying times. And we need to rely on God and one another. And, since we see the face of God in one another, well . . . that's where the helpers are. As we serve one another, we hold onto hope. Because there is always hope. Always.
And hope does not disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit that has been given to us. Romans 5:5
Faithfully,
Fr. George
