Dear Friends:
Right away, I want to let you know that we have postponed our Great Grounds Grooming and re-scheduled to Saturday, Sept. 5th. The decision was based on the trajectory of hurricane Laura, which of course might shift dramatically, as hurricanes do. But given the need to decide early, we moved the beautification project to next week. Please do offer prayers for those in the direct path of this storm.
Also, Vestry was unanimous in moving forward with the distribution of bread at our 8am service, beginning Sept. 6th. Look for more information on that next week.
On to the updates . . .

WORSHIP
This week, we offer all five services--four streamed, and one in person. You can find the weekly bulletin insert HERE.
Sunday :
8:00am As usual now, we will open the doors for Morning Prayer, Rite I. We have 22 "booths" for seating, and members of a household can sit together. Please remember: everyone must wear a mask, so please bring your own, if possible. All must enter through the parking lot doors, and provide contact information (if we don't already have it).
10:00 am, we will stream Holy Eucharist, Rite II, with Spiritual Communion. We are delighted to once more be using Andrew Bolden's "Third Street Mass" for this service, which you can find HERE . The service outline is HERE , and hymns are HERE .
This service will only be available online, due to restrictions against singing together.
Tuesday and Thursday: We will stream The Great Litany and sung Compline at 7pm, on Facebook and at our website.
Wednesday: at 12:30pm, we feature one of our lovely stained-glass windows with prayers, and musical accompaniment by Choirmaster Andrew Bolden. (Only on our Facebook page.)
More information on all our services can be found at the Calendar page of our website, and all streamed services are then uploaded to our youtube page.

WEEKLY PUZZLE
For the month of August, we are zooming in, to focus on transoms and closeups of our lovely windows. This week's puzzle features a window that doesn't get much notice. Tucked away in the southwest corner of the parish hall, it is clearly meant to evoke St. Andrew, the patron Saint of Scotland. Beyond that, I've got nothing on this window.
You will find the puzzle by clicking HERE. You can choose your background color, number of puzzle pieces, and even set it to display just the edge pieces. Plus, you get a very affirming crowd reaction once you have completed it!

GREAT GROUNDS GROOMING: SUMMER EDITION: RE-SCHEDULED
Next week, Saturday, September 5th, starting at 9am, you are invited to pitch in for another day of gardening and fellowship (at a safe distance, of course). We'll be focusing on five specific tasks:
- Weeding
- Hedge trimming
- Window well cleanup
- Prepping two new beds for flowers
- Dividing and replanting day lilies
If you have them, please bring:
- sharp shovels and spades
- clippers, pruners, loppers
- weed diggers, trowels
- rakes: hard tine and leaf
This will be a great opportunity to safely see one another in person, and see the gardens in their late-summer bloom, and I hope you can join us. The building will be open for bathrooms and water, but please bring whatever food or snacks you might want to have on hand.

THESE DAYS
I'm not telling you anything new when I say that our nation is going through some exceptionally difficult days. It seems like danger and disease just keep multiplying and spreading. The political and racial division in our country is hard to fathom. And in this environment, it is easy to give in to nihilism and despair.
To be blunt: That is exactly what our enemies--spiritual and human--would most like to see. Americans divided; people of God fighting. When we are united, we are strong; when we are divided . . . well, not so much.
And so I ask you to ponder this from Galatians 6:9:
So let us not grow weary in doing what is right, for we will reap at harvest time, if we do not give up.
We will get through this. All of this. But we must do so with charity toward, and unity with, all God's children.
Faithfully,
Fr. George
