A Joint Statement on 66 West

A statement from Chris Laondresse, President and CEO of Beacon

We are heartbroken by the tragic loss of life outside of 66 West in Edina this week. Our thoughts are with the victim, their loved ones, and all who have been impacted by this violent act. 66 West is a supportive housing community created to provide stability, safety, and opportunity for young people who have experienced homelessness. Every day, residents are working to build better futures with the support of dedicated staff and community partners.

Supportive housing communities provide homes, services, and connection to support people building stable and successful futures. Supportive housing helps build stronger communities. We remain committed to working closely with law enforcement, residents, and partners to ensure safety and ongoing support and healing for everyone in the community.

We are deeply grateful for the many members of the community who are offering support, care, and hope for healing alongside the 66 West community.

Beacon Interfaith Housing Collaborative is the owner of 66 West Apartments. Simpson Housing Services provides onsite services to residents of 66 West.

A Warm Welcome to Bonnie Johnson

We are excited to welcome our new Finance Manager Bonnie Johnson.

Bonnie grew up as part of a big Irish Catholic family in Golden Valley, one of ten kids. She was raised at St Margaret Mary, but like many teenagers drifted from the church for awhile. In the 1990s, her niece's baptism brought her back to the church and reawakened her spiritual being.

Bonnie has spent her entire career working in the nonprofit world.
