Prince of Peace

Weekly Update

July 29 - August 5, 2026

Evening Prayer is tonight (7/29)

at 6:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary.

Demands on our attention are endless. But whether the demands are due to life responsibilities, a night out with friends, a get together with family, or another hour scrolling social media we can still feel strained. God has a word for you in your joy and in your need.

We will rest in silence, give our attention to the one who always attends to us, listen with our hearts for God's voice, and share with God what is on our hearts and minds.

July 29 is the Commemoration of Mary, Martha, and Lazarus of Bethany

Friends of Jesus, Mary and Martha are remembered for the hospitality of their home that they offered him—Martha focused on serving their guest, and Mary on listening to him. Their brother Lazarus was raised from the dead as a sign of the greater resurrection to come.

Give One, Take One

Prayer Activity

Join us in sharing the gift of prayer with one another.

Write a prayer request for yourself or someone you care about on an index card and place it on the bulletin board by the Green Room. Then take a different card, pray for that person, and continue to keep them in your prayers throughout the week.

As we lift one another up in prayer, we strengthen our faith community and remind each other that no one walks alone.

"Carry each other's burdens, and in this way, you will fulfill the law of Christ."

— Galatians 6:2

Parish Life Survey

Please join us on Sunday, August 2nd, immediately following worship during Coffee Hour, for a congregational conversation about the results of the Parish Life Survey conducted this past February.

Whether you completed the survey or not, we invite you to come, listen, ask questions, and share in the conversation as we reflect on what we learned and consider how God is calling us forward as a congregation. Your voice matters, and we hope you'll be part of this important discussion.

For those unable to attend in person, Zoom will be available. Child care will also be provided so that everyone has the opportunity to participate.

The survey results, along with a letter from Pastor Michael, will be shared in the August newsletter prior to our gathering.

We hope you will join us as we celebrate our strengths, explore opportunities for growth, and continue to build a welcoming and vibrant Prince of Peace community together.

Mass on the Grass

Join us for an outdoor service on the Great Lawn. Immediately following the service, we will enjoy a catered luncheon.

Date: August 23rd

Outdoor Service: 10:00 a.m.

Luncheon: 11:15 a.m.

Please RSVP by 8/16 so we can plan accordingly.

Your Voice, Your Song!

Do you have a favorite Hymn?

I'm sure all of us have at least one hymn or song that we enjoy and so with that question, it is your turn ... your voice, your song.  The worship and music committee are requesting that you consider submitting your favorite hymn or song once again this summer!

Request forms are available in the Narthex. All you need to do is fill it out and place it in the receptacle that can be found in the back of the Narthex. You may submit more than one as we will collect all submissions and use those hymns and/or songs as appropriate in the planning during the summer months. Hymns and songs are not limited to the ELW or ACS worship book. If you know one that is not in there, submit it as well and we will do our best to find it and we'll present something new.

As we go through the summer, we will also be publishing the hymns for each Sunday during the weekly update, so you'll know when yours is up!

Our assembly benefits enormously from many people's generous sharing.

Thank you to everyone helping us all in our worship. If you wonder whether you might have a role in our Sunday gathering, please connect with Pastor Michael.
