Evening Prayer is tonight (7/22)

at 6:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary.

Demands on our attention are endless. But whether the demands are due to life responsibilities, a night out with friends, a get together with family, or another hour scrolling social media we can still feel strained. God has a word for you in your joy and in your need.

We will rest in silence, give our attention to the one who always attends to us, listen with our hearts for God's voice, and share with God what is on our hearts and minds.

July 22 is the Festival of Mary Magdalene, Apostle



Sometimes called "the apostle to the apostles" because she told them of her encounter with the risen Lord, Mary was a woman of Galilee who followed Jesus throughout his ministry. She was present at Jesus' crucifixion and his burial.

In the gospels of Matthew, John, and the longer ending of Mark, Mary Magdalene is the first to see the risen Christ, who commissions her to tell the other disciples the good news. In almost all the lists of women who followed Jesus, she is named first. Through the centuries, in the Western church she has been the object of misconceptions about her life and her relationship to Jesus. Now we recover her role as leader among Jesus’ followers and as witness to the resurrection. Like Moses’ sister, she came running with the good news that the one who had been given up for dead was restored to life.

PoP Book Club

The Book Club has been graciously invited to tea by Nancy Tolmoff at her home on Tuesday, July 28 at 1:00 p.m. Her address is 31 High Ridge Road in Brookfield. Please use your GPS for directions. We will have tea on the outdoor patio, weather permitting. If weather does not permit, we will be inside.

Hope everyone can join us to discuss The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein.

The book is narrated by a dog named Enzo. Car racing is a metaphor to understand the human condition, family, love, and loss. Hope to see you there.

Prayer Activity

Join us in sharing the gift of prayer with one another.

Write a prayer request for yourself or someone you care about on an index card and place it on the bulletin board by the Green Room. Then take a different card, pray for that person, and continue to keep them in your prayers throughout the week.

As we lift one another up in prayer, we strengthen our faith community and remind each other that no one walks alone.

"Carry each other's burdens, and in this way, you will fulfill the law of Christ."
