We have many reasons to ‘be happy’ during this month of Adar, and ‘todah rabbah’ to everyone for making our Purim celebration last Sunday so awesome! From our Purim Shpiel to our special Tefillah/Song Session to our ‘Out of This World’ Purim Carnival, the energy and joy at Shir Ami were through the roof!
On the ‘American’ calendar, the month of March is special as well. March is Women’s History
Month, and a big ‘todah rabbah’ goes out to all of the special women in our lives. At Shir Ami Religious School we celebrate women all throughout the year in many ways (here are just a few): We read about the stories of Esther, Miriam and other powerful women in the Bible, literally sing the praises of Sarah, Rebecca, Rachel and Leah each time we recite Avot v’Imahot in the classrooms and/or Tefillah, in 4th grade we hear the stories of Jewish women throughout history who are role models for who we wish to be and in 5th grade we learn about women in our own families who have paved the way for us to be the people we are today.
We also learn the most important lesson of all: while there is one month on the calendar to
‘celebrate’ women, we should be thankful for all the incredibly talented and inspirational women in our lives. We should celebrate what they have taught us, how they guide us and the love they have for us every day, every week and every month of the year!
Our upcoming Religious School schedule is as follows:
Sunday March 12th : K-5th Grade Religious School in Session (9-11:30am)
PLEASE REMEMBER TO TURN YOUR CLOCKS AHEAD ONE HOUR!
Tuesday March 14th: 3rd -5th Grade Classes in Session (4:45-6:15pm)
Wednesday March 15th: 6th -10th Grade Classes in Session (5:30-7:30pm)
Do not hesitate if you have any thoughts/questions. I can best be reached via phone/text (856-359-5758) and/or email (egoldberg@shiramipa.org).
Shabbat Shalom-
