Transfiguration Sunday

Farewell for the Alleluia and Burning of Palms

On Sunday, February 11 we will prepare for our Lenten journey by celebrating the Festival of the Transfiguration when we recall the story of Jesus, James and John on the mountaintop with Moses and Elijah. As part of our Lenten custom, we will fast from the word Alleluia during the season of Lent and say farewell on Sunday.

We will also burn blessed palms to make the ashes that will mark our foreheads on Ash Wednesday.

++Please bring any of your palms from last year's Palm Sunday to be burned following the service. There will be a basket for them at the door.

The Service of Ash Wednesday

February 14 at 7 p.m.

A Reflective Service with scripture readings, confession and the imposition of ashes. There will not be Holy Communion on Ash Wednesday.

Congregational Meeting

At the February 4th meeting of the congregation, the annual report was accepted, financial updates were provided and Mary Lenihan and Birgit Lilligren were elected as voting members of the Southwest California Synod Assembly.

Julie Castongia gave us an exciting preview of some special event for Trinity's 75th Anniversary.

Thanks to all who participated and contributed to the creation of the report, especially Martha Logan who was responsible for the graphic design!

To El Salvador, Central America

August 1- 6, 2024

You are invited to come to El Salvador for an annual mission experience, August 1-6th, 2024!  Julie Jacks (Resurrection Lutheran, Redondo Beach), along with Pastors Kristian and Anna-Kari in Chicago, have been leading delegations to accompany the Lutheran Church of El Salvador for 25 years. The Southwest California Synod is a "Companion Synod" with El Salvador. We walk alongside the Salvadorans as they support children to go to school, install solar panels, help build churches, conduct medical campaigns, and participate in a peace march for human.
