NURTURE

At the Vestry meeting in February, Vestry brainstormed our theme for 2020. The theme agreed upon is Nurture.

The word nurture means to care and encourage the growth or development of someone or something. No one could have imagined last month how appropriate this theme would be NOW!

Times feel crazy. There is uncertainty, fear and confusion. People are grieving for all sorts of disappointments from lost travel, income, graduations, celebrations, holidays...and these are just a few examples.

So what do we do as a faith-filled and faithful community? We focus on our theme for the year - Nurture!

What needs nurturing the most right now? Certainly, we need to be nurturing our souls, but we also need to make sure we are actively trying to nurture one another. In this time of social distancing, it is easy to get isolated. Maybe you can start by finding an uplifting and inspirational book to read. Maybe you pick up the phone and call a neighbor, family member or Grace member. Maybe you go outside for a walk or start preparing to plant a spring garden. Maybe you safely deliver a meal to someone who is shut in or cut off.

I would like to also say that if you need to call me, I am available for you. I will be speaking with other clergy and the Bishop once a week to brainstorm how to continue church remotely. There are many great ideas emerging, and we look forward to connecting in new and meaningful ways.

Until we are together again, remember we are and will remain connected thru the Holy Spirit.

Peace and Blessings to each of you.
