September is here and we can sense the renewal of the seasons in the cooler nights and the heat of the day. It is still summer, even if Dunkies came out with their Pumpkin Spice Coffee so early! I have found that there are two types of seasonal people this time of year; those who hold on furiously to summer and those who can’t wait for Fall festivals and apple picking … and pies!
I am one who loves the Fall but reluctantly is forced to live in a world that works 6 weeks ahead, planning services for October in September and trying to stay ahead of the game. It has been especially difficult over the past 19 months with Covid protocols and even now as we see a spike in infections yet are trying to return to traditional “church”. Planning ahead requires quick thinking when plans have to be changed on short notice. Even the normal seems abnormal.
Yet we take our cues from scripture and try to look ahead to future events with hope and faith. Romans 12:12 “Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.” (New International Version).
We hope to see you on Sunday, Rally Day, as we welcome our Sunday School families back to worship. We will hold classes outside when we are able. We will have some good food to enjoy after and enjoy a reunion in fellowship on the front lawn. Please be mindful of Covid protocols with masks for those unvaccinated and social distancing as we take our first step back!
September is here!
