"As each one has received a gift, use it to serve one another as good stewards of God's varied grace" (1st Peter 4:10).
It is Stewardship season so it is only right that we ask, “ What identifies a steward?“ It’s not a word that is commonly used, to the best of my knowledge, in our everyday conversations.
Well, let me suggest that a steward is one who guards their resources,(things of value) and uses them in a responsible way. These valuable include the sharing of time, talent, and treasure.
But being a Christian steward means more. As Christian stewards, we receive God's gifts gratefully, develop them responsibly, share them lovingly in justice with others, and return them with increase to honor our God and our ministries.
And as a stewards of God's gifts, we are called to be LOUD! That’s right! LOUD! We openly share with others the gift that God has given us, in each other, in our resources, in our support for our church and our mission. This is our task, as Congregational people, to serve and lift God up in our example to be true people of God! And it is a joy to do so.
Undoubtedly you have received our Stewardship letters asking for your support, and I thank you. I hope it was not part of the junk mail pile that find the recycle bucket right away. Every dollar we receive has a purpose for our ministries here at Pilgrim Church and, as in any other household, the cots for keeping this House of God is just like your own. But every dollar is used with respect, with purpose and with honor and love, bit to God and for those who receive our gifts.
Thank you for your support! Join us Sunday for our Stewardship/Thanksgiving worship service and at our Potluck Brunch following worship! You can still bring something to share if you would like to, but all are welcome even if you are not able to bring something to share! EVEN IF YOU HAVE NOT SIGNED UP TO BRING SOMETHING , IT IS NOT TOO LATE.
AND ALL ARE WELCOME WHETHER YOU ARE BRINGING SOMETHING OR NOT!
Peace and Blessings!
