UUCSW Announcements
Garden Committee Minutes
from July 27 Meeting

The committee is taking immediate action to improve the church’s appearance. This Friday, July 29th at 9:30 am, we are going to weed the beds, add more mulch, buy annuals (buy colorful petunias on sale) and put large planters on the stairs. This will be a labor of love by the committee to weed, buy plants and maintain some flowers for the rest of the summer. Everyone is welcome.

Topic for future discussion:
1) Man power is needed to clear beds on Ruggles Street and School Street. Susie Wells is orchestrating clearing overgrowth. Please contact her if you can help. susie48winnip@gmail.com
2) Donations are welcomed to defer the cost of restoring the appearance of our church. Donations can be made to UUCSW Garden Restoration.
3) No decision has been made as to what to plant in the old beds. The following are necessary considerations: plants with low water needs, shade loving, low maintenance, low height, visually attractive and cost effective . Under consideration are plants indigenous to New England, ecologically friendly and those plants that display Unitarian Universalist principles.
4) Next Zoom meeting August 25th 7 PM. Everyone is welcome.

Let’s gather and celebrate the power of song and music!

Our next “Community Sing" event on the UUCSW church lawn will be
Saturday, Aug 13th - 11:00am

Children can use the nursery school playground as well, so bring the whole family!

Also stay tuned for a summer picnic or two in the works.

For another fun musical place to be, try “Willow Wednesdays”- 7 pm concerts on the lawn at the WILLOWS (corner of Lyman and Rte 30) where you are likely to run into many friends.

Let's stay connected this summer!
Racial Justice Committee
You can STILL make a difference... we are over HALF-WAY to our goal!

Voting ALWAYS matters, but voting this year seems especially pressing. With the
Racial Justice Committee coordinating, already over 500 letters encouraging
underrepresented voters to vote have been prepared to send before fall elections!

As VoteForward.org has shown, letter writing is an easy and effective way of
getting voters to show up at the polls. We’ll be preparing letters through October.
Learn more about this effort HERE
We had a great turnout for Sheila’s letter writing party and got lots of work done.
We chatted and enjoyed each others’ company so much we are doing it again! Kris
Allen and Kim Hall of the Racial Justice Committee are sponsoring another one:

Friday August 12, 2-3:30 pm
8 Schipper Farm Lane on Kim’s patio

Please RSVP
kkereshall@gmail.com

You can also contact Jane or Marge at RJC_GetOutTheVote@uucsw.org to have letters sent to you by email to complete at your own pace. Or if you already have a
stack and want to bring them to the party that is fine too. Otherwise all letters and
supplies as well as some drinks and snacks will be provided.

Join us as we have fun and work toward UUCSW’s goal of mailing to 1,000 voters!

We can do it- GO TEAM!
