Mga Kwentong Paglaya: Filipino Stories of Liberation

Led by Erol King Delos Santos

Centuries of Spanish colonization and years of American annexation of the Philippines nearly saw the end of indigenous Filipino culture. Even though this story is one of heartache, it is also a story of resistance, resilience, and liberation.

This service will be held in the sanctuary and on Zoom:

Messages from Rev. Laurel

Please be aware that some people have been receiving weird messages from Rev. Laurel, asking for help. These are not from Rev. Laurel - she has been hacked! Please delete any strange messages and let Laurel know if you've gotten something. Thank you!

Board Survey

Throughout this church year, the Board of Trustees along with our congregational leaders have been meeting to explore new ways to live our mission, and provide the most meaningful experiences of community and fellowship within UUCSW. We would also like to have a stronger presence in our larger community, with outreach programs and events to strengthen that connection.

Please provide feedback to us by filling out the short survey through the link provided here. It should only take a few minutes to complete (though it may stimulate deep thought and discussion!).

We thank you for your time, and feedback, and hope to see you soon!

Be well,

Nancy Siegal and David King,

UUCSW Board of Trustees

SMOC Food and Clothing Drives

SMOC food and clothing donations may now be dropped off in the box in the Sanctuary every Sunday. Bologna can be stored in the upstairs refrigerator in the parlor. If you need alternate arrangements for drop-off, please contact Pauline Sciarappa at [email protected]

Book Group

Our next book group meeting will be Fri, March 8 at 7pm at Central One Bank, 40 South Street, Westborough. The book this month is Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver.

Summary: In this exhilarating novel, two friends—often in love, but never lovers—come together as creative partners in the world of video game design, where success brings them fame, joy, tragedy, duplicity, and, ultimately, a kind of immortality.

Please contact Susie Wells with any questions: [email protected].

All are welcome!

UUA and Community News

Thanks for helping honor Corinne as we boost the lives of those in need of blood products. I'm so grateful for your support. The sign ups for the next drives in February at Tatnuck are already online. For Tuesday 2/20 please use this link and for Saturday 2/24 use this one to make an appointment. These are exactly 8 weeks after the December drives. Your health is important too so please take a break and skip a drive, if you've been deferred recently or don't feel 100%. Please let me know if you aren't well so we can take you off the schedule.

Thanks in advance for your help with this essential cause. If you have any eligibility questions please reach out to the Boston Children's Hospital Blood Donor Center staff at 617-355-6677 or email them at [email protected] and note that they are closed on Mondays.

Thank you!
