Disability Justice and the Capitol Crawl

Led by Rev. Laurel Gray

We often think about justice as an abstract ideal, when the reality of justice is deeply entwined with the tangible and practical realities of our bodies. This morning we’ll tell the story of the Capitol Crawl, a massive disability rights protest that resulted in the creation of the Americans with Disabilities Act in 1990.

An amazing resource for context about this service is the documentary "Crip Camp: A Disability Revolution", which is available to view for free on YouTube and Netflix. You will laugh, cry, get angry, and cheer with joy! *Please note that there are some adult themes, so be aware if you are watching with young children*

Board Survey

Throughout this church year, the Board of Trustees along with our congregational leaders have been meeting to explore new ways to live our mission, and provide the most meaningful experiences of community and fellowship within UUCSW. We would also like to have a stronger presence in our larger community, with outreach programs and events to strengthen that connection.

Please provide feedback to us by filling out the short survey through the link provided here. It should only take a few minutes to complete (though it may stimulate deep thought and discussion!).

We thank you for your time, and feedback, and hope to see you soon!

Be well,

Nancy Siegal and David King,

UUCSW Board of Trustees

Summary: In this exhilarating novel, two friends—often in love, but never lovers—come together as creative partners in the world of video game design, where success brings them fame, joy, tragedy, duplicity, and, ultimately, a kind of immortality.

Please contact Susie Wells with any questions: [email protected].

All are welcome!

UUA and Community News

Thanks for helping honor Corinne as we boost the lives of those in need of blood products. I'm so grateful for your support. The sign ups for the next drives in February at Tatnuck are already online. For Tuesday 2/20 please use this link and for Saturday 2/24 use this one to make an appointment. These are exactly 8 weeks after the December drives. Your health is important too so please take a break and skip a drive, if you've been deferred recently or don't feel 100%. Please let me know if you aren't well so we can take you off the schedule.

Thanks in advance for your help with this essential cause. If you have any eligibility questions please reach out to the Boston Children's Hospital Blood Donor Center staff at 617-355-6677 or email them at [email protected] and note that they are closed on Mondays.

Thank you!
