The Saving Grace of Community

Led by Rev. Laurel Gray

Our society often lifts romantic love up as the pinnacle of what love looks like, but there are actually all different ways we encounter love in the world. Today we’ll focus on the quieter but stabilizing power of community. This service will also include child dedications, one of the ways we promise to love our young people as they grow.

If you’re interested in having your child/ren dedicated, please email [email protected]

Worship will be followed by a special coffee hour to celebrate the children's dedications. Please join us!

This service will be held in the sanctuary and on Zoom:

Join us online at zoom.us/j/89873989254

Join us by phone at 301-715-8592, meeting ID 89873989254

Masks encouraged in the sanctuary.

Book Group

Our next book group meeting will be February 9 at 7pm at Central One Bank, 40 South Street, Westborough. The book this month is Our Missing Hearts, by Celeste Ng. Our Missing Hearts is a contemporary dystopian fiction novel by New York Times best-selling author Celeste Ng. Published in 2022, it is a reaction to the fears and racism in America following the COVID-19 pandemic. The novel follows two protagonists, Bird and his mother Margaret, as they navigate an oppressive society that victimizes them due to their Asian identity.

Please contact Susie Wells with any questions: [email protected]. All are welcome!

LOCAL ACTION ITEM

From Westborough Against Censorship

Library Trustees play a critical role in protecting the freedom to read in our town library.  THREE seats are open this cycle.

·        Jeanine Mindrum's seat is up for election, and she is running again.

·        Mike Karp has submitted signatures for 1 seat. He ran last year but did not win.

WAC doesn't have concerns about either of the above candidates. However:

·        As of now, there is 1 library trustee seat for which no one has pulled papers. Might you or someone you know be interested in becoming a library trustee?

The deadline to pull nomination papers to run for a position is January 19 and the deadline for turning in 50 signatures is January 23. (WAC can help with signature collection.)

If you want to learn more about the position, we can connect you with current trustees to learn more. Just reply to this email!

March 12: town election day. Mark your calendar now and make a plan to vote!

30 Days of Love 2024

Imagining an Interdependent Future

JANUARY 15 - FEBRUARY 14, 2024

Side With Love is thrilled to announce 30 Days of Love 2024! Our annual month of spiritual nourishment, political grounding, and shared practices of faith and justice, 30 Days of Love will go from Martin Luther King, Jr. Day (January 15) through Valentine’s Day (February 14). Each week’s resources will be published by 12pm ET every Monday.

This year’s 30 Days of Love is a gift to our whole community: a love letter, a warm hug, a spiritual balm for all of the individuals, families, religious professionals, partners and communities that embody our values and work for justice and liberation year round. Each week will feature a spiritual theme overlapping with one of Side With Love’s intersectional justice priorities, and we'll share an array of offerings to help nourish your spirit and give gratitude and affirmation.
