This Week in Religious Education
RE classes: On February 17th we are beginning in the sanctuary at 10:30 and you can pick your kids up from Group RE at 11:45! Thanks!

Battling Horcruxes: This year our 5th/6th grade RE class is participating in the program Harry and the UU, which explores the injustices in the world today through the lens of JK Rowling’s Harry Potter book series. February’s horcrux is about Animal Cruelty and how we can confront it!

Coming of Age: To our wonderful mentors and COA students, we will be meeting from 4-6 in the parlor for our next COA meeting. This week we are discussing more in depth how to write our credos and what things we may want to include in them!

Group RE: This week we are thinking about our imperfections and how they make us unique and wonderful!
Interfaith Meal Packaging Event and Soup Sales!
Thank you to everyone who supported the “Interfaith Meal Packaging” event held last Saturday at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church! It was a fun event that helped the greater Worcester area with much needed meals by creating sealed packages of soup, mac & cheese and hot oatmeal.

Cassie’s “Minestrone Soup in a Jar” sold well and we were able to raise more than the $500 we pledged to help the non-profit “The OutReach Program” who held the event at Good Shepherd!

The additional money raised from the sale of the soups and great donations by our congregation was given to the Social Justice committee’s fund for the “Monthly Meal Packing” event we do the first Sunday of each month in our kitchen.

There are still “Minestrone Soup in a Jar” available to purchase and support our “Monthly Meal Packing”! We would love to see these get sold out and enjoyed during these cold, snowy winter days! (Note: We were also told that you can add chicken and/or chicken broth to make it heartier too.)

Please see either Cassie Lengel or Janet Purney-Balabanis to purchase the remaining soups during coffee hour. Thank you!

Next time, we will also be discussing some interesting Buddhist ideas at the core of the teachings. Feel free to drop in for any meeting. Next one is February 24 in the Chapel at 1:30 pm. For questions contact Erin Gold kentuckybluerose@gmail.com or Carol Palmer cgpl1fe@yahoo.com. May all beings know peace.
