Sunday Service: Making a Difference for those in Recovery from Mental Illness
December 8th at 10:30 am
Our guest speaker, Lisa Brennan, Executive Director of the Genesis Club in Worcester, will speak about the challenges that many in recovery face and how the organization is able to assist them. Genesis staff work side by side Genesis members on tasks that keep the Clubhouse running such as meal preparation, cleaning, and building maintenance. In addition, there is assistance for members to find housing, employment, vocational programs, and to complete high school or attend college. Please join us.
This Week in Religious Education
Join us this week for our Religious Education Classes! We will begin in the Sanctuary before heading downstairs for our RE lessons. RE Classes will end at 11:45 when parents can pick up their kids from the RE classrooms downstairs. Thanks!

Looking Ahead: Children’s Choir and Pageant! This December we will be bringing back our children’s choir! If your children like to sing, invite them out on Sunday mornings during December at 9:50 am to practice some holiday songs with our choir. We will also be practicing for our Family Friendly Christmas Pageant on December 15th during RE time. We will perform these songs and the pageant on December 22nd. For more information please see Cassie Lengel or Kala Farnham.
Return Giving Tree gifts by December 8th
Again this holiday season we are joining our fellow churches in this wonderful outreach to our community! We truly appreciate all your support as we work to make this Christmas special for everyone. Gifts should come back to church WRAPPED with the TAG ATTACHED by Sunday, December 8th at 10:30 am . If you are not around that weekend you may also drop your gift at Erin Boudreaux's house at 56 West Main Street (just a block from the church) any time before the due date. Thank you!
Guest at Your Table sponsored by the UUSC
The UU Service Committee (UUSC) describes this program as part of the UU community culture since 1975 to strengthen connections to our shared principles and help to challenge injustice throughout the world. This year, funds will go to the UUSC in honor of women leaders from partner organizations that have taken on some of today’s greatest human rights challenges. To learn more, visit the UUSC.org website.  Please return Guest at Your Table boxes to church on Sunday, December 8th. Thank you.
A Special Request from the Membership Team
On behalf of the membership caring team, join us in helping Richard and Tanya Trainor provide a special Christmas for their five young children. They are looking for gift certificates for local experiences such as Sky Zone, Altitude, Urban Air, movie tickets, restaurants (Bertuccis, McDonalds, etc.), roller skating, bowling, Tower Hill, Claytime, Board and Brush, museums, etc. If you prefer that we do the shopping for you, contributions are welcome by mail, in the form of check (mailed to the UUCSW at Box 544) or in the weekly collection by check or cash in a small gift envelope with the note “Trainor family” on the memo line or envelope. Lisa Shumway will be collecting unwrapped gifts at church or by arrangement until December 22nd. Thank you in advance for your generosity. If you have questions, please contact Lisa Shumway at Membership@uucsw.org.
Poinsettias for the Sanctuary
As is our tradition, we will once again decorate the Sanctuary with beautiful poinsettias from December 15th through Christmas Eve. We have ordered a dozen single red poinsettias wrapped in gold foil from Danielson Flowers. You can help us by purchasing one or two plants for $12.50 each. Click this link to sign-up to purchase a plant: Poinsettia Sign-Up. Please make checks payable to UUCSW with "Poinsettia" in the memo. You can put your check in the collection plate, or hand it to Sharon Barrett.

Don't forget to take your plant(s) home after the service on Christmas Eve! Thank you!
ShopWithScrip cards make great holiday gifts!

When you purchase a gift card through ShopwithScrip, a percentage of the face value of the card goes to UUCSW. These small but significant rebates really add up - we are hoping to raise $1,000 through the holidays with this program. If you’ve set up a Scrip account, you can continue to place your order online as usual. If you don’t have an account, we have created a paper order form you can use to purchase physical gift cards by check through the holiday season. Order forms are available in the Chapel or from the PDF linked here. Checks made out to UUCSW and your completed order form should be returned to Lisa Shumway. We will place orders weekly through December 9th. Expect a one-week turnaround.
