Birdwatching as a Spriritual Practice
January 23rd at 10:30 am
led by Cassandra Montenaegro
What is it about picking up a pair of binoculars, lifting your eyes up to a far-off fluttering, or attuning your ears to a familiar chirp, that transports so many of us to spaces of intention? Whether you’re in the woods with friend, at a park with family, or looking out the window of your apartment, join Cassandra Montenegro, Master of Divinity student at Harvard Divinity School, on Sunday, January 23, 2022, for a journey into how birding and birdwatching can restore connection and confidence in our communities and ourselves.

Living with Intention in a Church Community
One of our big questions for this year is: “How can people be involved in activities and leadership in ways that feel life-giving and not based on obligation?” This question affects all churches and volunteer organizations because there are fewer people volunteering than there used to be...

Greetings all,
I will be away on study leave this week, putting the Circle RE curriculum together for the rest of this year. A decision about whether Circle RE will meet on Jan 30th will be made the week of January 24th when I return.
If you haven't visited the Circle RE website and blog yet, you can do so here: Circle RE Blog. It contains our calendar, info on our program, and resources for RE. And you can keep up with Circle news and blog posts by subscribing to the site.
Bright Blessings, Cynthia

AUCTION TEAM NEEDED
We are gearing up for our major fundraiser planned on April 30th. This is a request for you to join a team to put together the items and plan - we hope to have the event in person this year, pending COVID safety protocols.
This is a rewarding opportunity for all concerned! Please consider being part of this great event and reach out to the board at Board@uucsw.org and "put in your bid” NOW to help it succeed.
With sincere thanks from your congregation!

Winter is a particularly difficult time for those in shelters and your donations this month are particularly appreciated.
Please consider participating in a food drive to benefit the South Middlesex Opportunity Council (SMOC). They are in need of: juice boxes; fresh fruit; 16 oz. packages of bologna; and boxes of granola bars. There will be a collection for these items on Thursday, January 27th from 4:30 to 5:45 pm at the Ruggles Street door of UUCSW. Please reach out to Libba Moore at libbamoore13@gmail.com ahead of time if there's a better time for you.
SMOC in Worcester has identified the need for clothing, especially for men. Donated items can include: new socks and underwear, and gently used sweatshirts, sweatpants, T-shirts, and jeans. Please bring your donations to UUCSW on the same day/time as the monthly food drive. If this timing does not work for you, please reach out to Nancy Siegal at Nsiegal185@msn.com or Pauline Sciarappa at psciarappa@gmail.com for other options. Thank you in advance for your generosity!

The Landscape of White Supremacist Activity in New England
Sundays, February 6th & February 13th @ 6:30-8pm
Come take part in a two part series led by SURJ Boston members and UUs Liz Martin and Elena Garofoli.
The goal of this series is to become more aware of the groups and people who are actively engaged in white supremacist activity locally and to discuss opportunities for action.
Attendance at both sessions is encouraged, but attending only one session is also welcome.
This is not a public event, but rather is open to friends and members of Showing Up for Racial Justice Worcester and Worcester county UUs.
