Advent; What Are We Waiting For?
Rev. Bev Preaching
|
For our Christian friends Advent is a time of expectant waiting and preparation for the celebration of the Nativity of Jesus at Christmas as well as the return of Jesus at the second coming. But is Advent just for Christians? What can this time of waiting, anticipating mean for Unitarian Universalists? How is the symbolism of Advent relevant in today’s world?

Seasonal Reminder - UUCSW Contributions
|
The end of the calendar year is an excellent time to review where you are in terms of contributions towards your annual pledge. Please take a few moments to review your pledge status. You can do this online in Realm by selecting the "giving" menu item in your profile. If you prefer, please get in touch with me directly and I will provide you with your status.
If you have not made a contribution yet, please consider doing so before the end of the year. Contributions can be mailed to UUCSW, Box 544, Westborough, MA 01581.
For those of you who have fulfilled your pledge, please consider an additional donation this year, keeping in mind the deficit budget we face for this fiscal year.
Thank you for your part in support of the good works of the UUCSW.

Christmas is coming!
We would love to have our youth join us in celebrating the holiday season at our Sunday Multigenerational Services! We will need a few good readers to help us during our service on December 16th, if you would like to participate in this way please speak to DRE Cassie Lengel.
Coming of Age Meeting
If you or someone you know has a child in eighth grade who would like to participate in our Coming of Age Program we would welcome them to join us on December 9th at 12pm in the Youth Classroom downstairs for an initial visioning meeting!
Fighting the Horcruxes!
This year our 5th/6th grade class is following the program Harry and the UU, which is adapted from JK Rowling’s Harry Potter book series. Each month we will tackle a different “horcrux” or injustice in the world. November’s Horcrux is Poverty. Today is our last day to collect warm clothing like NEW hats, gloves, mittens, and scarves to donate with our packed meals to the shelter in Worcester. December’s Horcrux is Child Slavery. Our class will be learning about fair trade chocolate this month and we encourage you to consider gifting fair trade for Christmas!
