Weekly Update - March 5, 2020
Sunday Service: "Embodied Wisdom"
March 8th at 10:30 am
For the month of March we’ll be thinking about different types of wisdom, beginning with the wisdom of our bodies. We’ll look at what it means to know something in our bodies and focus on connecting with that wisdom. Led by Rev. Laurel Gray.
This Week in Religious Education
This week is a Sanctuary start with regular RE classes.
Attention teachers: We have had to make a change to the VISTA information that said we would celebrate our teacher appreciation on March 29th. Since we will be very busy and focused on the Kindness Week preparations we will be moving our Teacher Appreciation to THIS Sunday, March 8th. We hope that you can attend for this small token of recognition for all the amazing hard work you have done this year. We couldn't have RE without you! Thank you!
Coming of Age: Our students and mentors have been working very hard and will meet for our last session this Sunday, March 8th from 3-5. It has been such a pleasure to work with them and see them grow into the amazing young men and women they are becoming and we hope you can all make it to the Ceremony on March 22nd to support them!

Social Justice Discussion April 24th
at Kim Hall’s House, 19 Wayside Road, Westborough
The idea for this discussion came out of a church service in the fall on bailing people out of prison; and how the number of Black and Hispanic people who are incarcerated is greatly over-represented compared to the population at large.

The title is “White Fragility” by Robin DiAngelo. The book “everyone is talking about” from Beacon Press. In a nutshell, DiAngelo coined the term "white fragility"; it is a reaction in which white people feel attacked or offended when the topic of racism arises. The book discusses many different aspects and manifestations of white fragility.

You can of course order the book from your favorite bookseller. Below are several references that will give you a shorter and more time-constrained version of the concepts underlying “White Fragility.”
