Hymn Sing and Ice Cream Social

We will be having a Hymn Sing and Ice Cream Social at Prince of Peace on Sunday, July 11th. The event will be held in our parking lot where we will sing all of your favorite hymns from 6:30 until 7:30 p.m.. Then at 7:30 p.m. we will enjoy some delicious ice cream with yummy toppings and good conversation with one another. Plan to bring a chair to sit on while we sing. If the weather is questionable, we will hold the event in the Fellowship Hall.

I look forward to seeing many faces and hearing many lovely voices on July 11th.

Thanks,
Janet Lutz
CREATING COMMUNITY

Creating Community is an email devotion to guide your preparation for worship for the following weekend.

Imagine how much more clear and relevant God's Word will be if you have had an opportunity to read, reflect, and dwell in the Word prior to worship. You may do this devotion as an individual, with others, as a family, or over Zoom as a small group.

Each devotion arrives on Monday and can be engaged in anytime before Sunday's worship.

The devotion includes three simple steps:

1. Read through the text (provided)

2. Respond to the questions (select one of the sets of questions from the three possibilities )

3. Offer a Prayer (one is provided)

Small Group Conversations
The Congregation Council together with the Forward Leadership Team have organized a series of small group discussions with all of you to help us shape our mission and define our calling as a church family. Held in-person and over Zoom, these 1-hour conversations ask members to share what brought them to Prince of Peace, what keeps them here, and what they love the most.

For those of you who haven't yet participated there will be an in-person sign up sheet in the Narthex this Sunday for the next round of small group conversations. Please click below for more information.

CALUMET
WALK THE WALK 2021

The goal: 1,500 registrants, trekking 200,000 miles over 62 days to raise $106,250 or more for Calumet. Registration for “Walk the Walk 2021” goes from May 20 – June 30. Each registrant receives an official “Walk the Walk 2021” T-Shirt.
If 1,500 sign up to participate, Calumet will receives $37,500 in matching funds they won’t otherwise receive.
Each participant (including dogs) joins a Team and Jim and I decided this would be a great thing for POP to join in so we will be the Team leaders. You can walk, run, bicycle, or swim. Four times during the 62 day event, participants will report their mileage to us and we will report to Calumet.
Registration fee is $25 which goes to Calumet. If the participants…together…reach the 200,000 mile goal, Calumet will receive thousands of dollars in pledged money from Angel Donors they otherwise wouldn’t receive.
The link to register is below.
Please let us know if you are joining our Team.

 Altar Guild

We now have an opportunity for you to assist with Altar Guild.

Currently this is a group of ladies but we can welcome gentlemen, to set and clean up after services in the church. At present there is very little to do. More responsibility will come as more in person services are scheduled.

A team of three is scheduled for each weekend of the month. You will not be on your own until you feel comfortable with the procedure. You will be trained.

Please call or email Susi at 203-744-2033 or lleh45@sbcglobal.net for more information.

Thanks,
Susan Lehmann

FLOWERS AT THE ALTAR

Most Sundays during the year, we have a beautiful bouquet of flowers at the altar that was created by the members of Altar Guild. Those flowers are dedicated and paid for by members of the congregation.
The arrangements cost $25.00.  If you would like to dedicate altar flowers in memory of a loved one, to the glory of God, or in honor of a person or event, you can sign up for your chosen date on the Flower Chart between the bathrooms in the Narthex. You also need to fill out a flower request form, which is located next to the Flower Chart, and put it in Rene Tuccillo’s mailbox. Your name and dedication will appear in the worship bulletins.  If two people sign up for the same date, flowers can be placed in other locations in the Sanctuary, such as on the organ or  piano or at the baptismal font.  We do not have flowers at the altar during lent.
