From the Principal's Desk
This week we celebrated World Read Aloud Day, which originated in 2010, on February 5th, by inviting children’s author Jonathan Miller to our school. Mr. Miller is author and illustrator of Sammy and the Wonder Dachshund books. He spoke with K-5 about what an author/illustrator does and what inspired him to write books. The students thoroughly enjoyed the presentation and his stories. They created illustrations of their own for him, during their Library/Media time in the past few weeks.
The soccer team wrapped up their season with a final winning game against Resurrection Catholic School on Wednesday. The thirteen participants in Round 3 of the Amazing Shake competed in a round table of questions and answers with our panel of guest judges. As thirteen became six, yesterday, those six students went to the FGC broadcasting studio where they had to create their own broadcast. They learned a lot about the behind the scenes process of creating a taped newscast. The judges, two of whom are Epiphany alumni, James Norris and Stephen Culotti, were very impressed with our young people. We are grateful to Mike McKee and FGC for affording our students this wonderful opportunity.
Tomorrow, our Epiphany Archery team will compete at LCMS at 3 pm. They have practiced the past two months and are ready to “hit their targets”.
So much to be proud of in our students, as we move quickly into February!
Have a great weekend. Take some time to relax and read a good book with your child; there are so many great stories out there to be enjoyed by audiences of all ages.
Yours In Christ,
Rita M. Klenk
