From the Principal's Desk
This week we sent home the second quarter report cards. As this marks the half way point in the school year, it is a great time to acknowledge the strides that your child has made in different academic and enrichment areas and to determine ways in which we can all work together to help your child continue to grow academically, spiritually, and emotionally.
With a multitude of activities going on in and out of school, it is also good to determine how the day-to-day responsibilities of school and other clubs, sports, and artistic pursuits can be accomplished. Each child has many gifts and talents and we want them to share and nurture them.
Screen time be it on the computer, tablet or phone also needs to be a consideration during the school week. Every class has Accelerated Reader goals to work towards, and research has proven that an individual who reads regularly will expand his/her vocabulary at a much faster rate. Dr. Higgins and the classroom teachers have invested a lot of time ensuring that students of all levels, K-8, have reading selections available to them at Epiphany. Books online can also be a great way to access reading material easily, however, it is not conducive to reading when the internet may not be available. This is why borrowing a book from the classroom or school library is a fantastic option.
If you have any concerns about your child’s progress academically, socially, or emotionally at school, please feel free to contact his/her teacher(s) to schedule a conference. We are here to assist you and your family, and to help your child become a well-rounded, kind, and respectful global citizen.
Enjoy your three day weekend,
Rita M. Klenk
